The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

Pirate Fry and Volcano Island is basically about a young pirate's quest to keep his beloved occupation. Fry journeys to Volcano Island and there he battles the evil bowling ball worshippers and attempts to pass the test of three in order to earn his pirates license.

8 people commented on this game (newest first):

Colorful (in a good way) and heavily inspired by Monkey Island (which could be good or bad, depending on how much you look for originality in a game).

That being said, the game is extremely short and the humor leans on the childish side (if you're mentally over 12, you're bound to roll your eyes several times for how bad it is).

The writing itself is atrocious, and I'm not even talking about the insane amount of spelling errors - I can forgive those, to a point.

I don't know why but I have unzipped the windows file and got AGS.exe but nothing happens. I cannot play Pirate Fry I.

Yet I have downloaded Pirate Fry 2 and it seems OK.

I would have liked to start with Fry 1 before going to Fry 2.

Pirate Fry's one of my most favourite AGS adventures, I enjoyed it from start to finish. It may be a fairly short game but it's very entertaining. A+!

MillsJROSS and Mr.Panda are definitely right about the game deserving more acclaim. Hopefully Squinky will get that with the upcoming Pirate Fry sequel, which looks wonderful.

Squinky is the man! Very funny stuff. Short, sweet, and entertaining. This should have gotten more acclaim than it did.

I really wonder why this game has not gotten much acclaim. It is truely a funny well made masterpiece, almost as good as Larry Vales. I love it. (Well, not the panda bit)
