The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

AGS Panel Review

"Robo Quest is charming little game about a Robot struggling to get to a party in time. While being rather polished - especially the graphic style is clean and consistent - its plot is so simplistic it resembles one of those browser based escape-the-room games. What it lacks in depth and story-telling, it makes up for in really cute pixel art. "

Very nice game. One of the most relaxing I played. Excellent pixel art. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.

Name:Robo Quest

General Summary: A Nice little short game, with a robot trying to get to a party

Review

Graphics:
7/10
I was impressed with these cute style of the Pixel Art Graphics this game set out, while there where no moments of super splendor, there was also no moments of hidden items that blended into the background.

Gameplay:
6/10
While it was hinted your robot would gain more powers in the 'full game' the one powerup you did have felt a little pointless, there didnt seem to be any reason for it to be not powered up all the time and the fact you only used it twice was a bit of a let down. While, as I said before, you could see everything clearly there were certain parts that your robot would stand in-front of the objects you would need to use, resulting in a back and forth walk to continue with the game.
The Look command was underused too with only a few objects 'lookable' when not, the click would have no effect, same with the 'use' nothing would happen leaving me wondering if I clicked it right.
This would been fixed with two lines 'Yes, I can see that' And ' That wont work'

Storyline: 3/10
For such a simple story it felt like it was missing, and I really didnt know what was going on for the most part.
What type of party was it?
Do I need to go look for another crystal?
What are the codes to these?
It was kinda of a let down to the prettyness

Sound: 5/10
The sound effects fitted well, giving a nice feel to the robot walking around and touching things within the world.
But the lack of Background music was a miss beat and would of brought the whole game up ten fold, with a 16bit middie running it the background the lack of 'talking' be so noticeable

Overall Rating and Final Thoughts
7/10
If your after a quick little game, this is perfect. The puzzles are not brain busters so just sitback and relax and enjoy

This was a good game and I enjoyed it. It does take a little bit of hunting for the right place to click to figure out how to power up the robot, but besides that I really enjoyed this game
