The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

The story takes place in the future, in 2024.
You are a worker. You must go to work, but the "talking door" wants to be paid, or it will not let you get out of your room. The problem is that you don't have money...

The game is in French & English

AGS Panel Review

"It was tempting to give this game 3 cups because of the wonderful visuals, but the sometimes problematic translation, the picky order in which inventory items need to be used on each other in order to work and the computer display buttons not being very responsive bring down an otherwise good but short game."

14 people commented on this game (newest first):

Way too short, features like the computer and the navigation system of the hovercar were very cool and I would have liked to see them more developed. What was in the game, was pretty good though. I enjoyed it.

Very simple and short, but a good time-waster. I wish I could play further into the "day".

A good game but not enough depth.

Although this is a short game, it is still quite fun and matches up with long and medium length games, the puzzles are great and the graphics are good, very nice game for a short game.

Hi,

I don't know if you are french so i write in english ;)

I've finished A Day in the Future" and i'd like to say, thank you ! At least, an adult game with wirter reference in a dark vision on future with a story about, not an armagaddon, not a princess kidnaped by somebody, just the life of a civil like others in a big city.

I've appreciate too the final reference to Mean Streets and the spirit very "divide by zero" and especially Jack T. Ladd if you know, others of my favorite games.

Right now, i'm webmaster of a french site about reviews and interviews in the retro-gamin especially www.aitpast.com ;)

I'd like your game, it is short, sure, but the idea are here. The simple life of a civil in a big city, society review, with this little game, i've drink a cup of anticipation and i like it.

If you have project about another game or a sequel in the same spirit (adventure /science fiction), i can purpose to help you about writing, puzzles and beta testing, check me if you want :)

Cheers and thank you again for this short moment of pleasure :)

This was the first ever AGS game I've played. And I must say it's a very good one! I liked the graphics quite a lot and the puzzles were good. And the ending video looked very cool. I could recommend this short game, if you have a couple of minutes to spend.

It seems a rather unpleasant future to spend a day in... but the setting and sprites were good, even though some things still didn't make sense. Overall not a bad short game, although i did find it difficult to find the 5 cts you needed to leave the room (its also ludicrus that a door asks you for money to leave a room, but thats besides the point)

Err sorry, I reaaally don't know what you're talking about. Who ? Philip DICK !? Who's that guy ???

That's right, I haven't mentioned it was inspired from a novel of P.K.D IN the game because I forgot to do so, and as it was just a bad scripted test game, I don't really care anymore.

But! It's clearly written on my website : http://www.digitalmindstudio.ch/jeux.php?id=1&langue=en

So all I have to say is : Chut !

It's a cheap Philip K. Dick rip-off. Did you read Ubik? If yes, then you know what I mean.

One of those fun 'get out of it' scenarios, where you have to escape from the room. I have to say the cutscenes were impressive, and worth working for.

Liked the graphics. The ending was cool!

This game is short but COOL.

Short, and I'm not so sure that the buildup you get in the intro sequence was necessary, unless the author plans on taking the game further. Most of what you're presented with goes nowhere.

Still, for what's here, it's not bad at all and is worth playing for the short time it lasts. Would be great as an intro into a full game.
