About

("fasa" is a Swedish word for horror or deep fear)

A simple game celebrating the most glorious failure in Swedish history, and where our protagonist finds out that travelling to join the 30 year's war can be just as dangerous as the war itself..

This is a short entry for MAGS June 2025, theme "Home Country"; https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/competitions-activities/mags-june-home-country-open/

Fun fact: Wile making the game I visited the Vasa museum in Stockholm in order to use real historical items as a reference for several parts of the art in the game!

A forestaste of Blondbraid's new historical fiction in the XVIIth century. It relishes in her favourite theme: the absurdity of war.

Blondbraid's "The Vasa Fasa" is an interesting entry in the June 2025 MAGS competition, perfectly capturing the "Home Country" theme with its focus on Sweden. Specifically, it delves into one of the most iconic, albeit disastrous, moments in Swedish history: the maiden voyage of the warship Vasa, which famously sank after sailing a mere 1,300 meters in 1628.

This game is a charming and concise "escape ship" experience, set entirely within a single room aboard the ill-fated vessel. It cleverly frames the journey to join the Thirty Years' War as potentially as perilous as the conflict itself. Despite its short length, "The Vasa Fasa" manages to pack in some interesting puzzles that feel authentic to the 17th-century setting, challenging players to think within the confines of the historical period.

Visually, the game is a treat. The art looks great, a testament to Blondbraid's research and inspiration drawn from a visit to the Vasa Museum in Stockholm.

For those curious to follow along on the maiden voyage firsthand and witness this glorious failure unfold, I've created a full playthrough of "The Vasa Fasa" on my YouTube channel. You can watch it here.
