@mkennedy might be onto something, but I've got another angle.

Spoiler
The brain.

It contains food for thought.
But there are no doors

Spoiler
Another guess would be an egg, but considering that most animals likely eat the shell also I'm not sure that would count.

That is the correct answer! Yay!  (nod)

Stupot, I liked your answer, too, but the expression you guessed, doesn't exist in that form in my language, and the riddle is an old one from folklore.

mkennedy

Another guess would have been bee hive as that is a house for the bees and contains sweet honey which is a type of food, but it has openings for the bees to go in and out of so I wasn't sure if those would be considered doors.

As for the correct answer,
Spoiler
for animals they could eat the house with the food

Yes. I think the reasoning behind it is
Spoiler
either that the chick eats the egg from the inside and out, and has to break the shell to get out, or (more likely) it's simply an observation that it's food (for humans) in its own container.

Anyway, the riddle is solved, and anyone can ask a new one. (Or new old one.) Doesn't have to be the one who solved this one, unless you want to.

Here's a riddle from antiquity.
"There is a house. One enters it blind and comes out seeing. What is it?"

Gilbert

It's probably not this but I'll just guess:
Spoiler
pencil sharpener?

Nope! This is from way back before pencils were even invented.

Yes! That is the correct answer!
From what I read the riddle may be from ancient Babylon and over 4,500 years old.

Hears a new original riddle made by me.
What is the smallest Pokemon?

Nice. It could also be the house of the kitten lady.

That is the correct answer! Though the hyphen is optional.
