Thanks! But I think I need to ask for an interpretation of the poem now...it's not all clear to me.

Spoiler
-A name is usually given to infants who cannot turn it down
-Although you can give a name, you cannot take it away
-Some people eventually decide they don't like their names and "leave" (change) them to a new name.
-It's easy to get so used to your name that you kind of stop noticing it

I'd argue that I'll notice when my name is said through the noise in a noisy room. I understand what you mean, though.

No, that would have two "doors" in a sense.

That is an answer that is correct, but it's not the original answer to the riddle (according to Norwegian folklore). If I were to give points, I'd give full score, though.  (nod)

I thought that was what Stupot was suggesting. Anyway, while technically correct, it's not the answer we're looking for.
EDIT: Ahhh....sorry, Stupot. My pun mode was not activated.

Stupot

I think I've got it.

Spoiler
The sea!

It's full of edible fish, but there are no doors in and out of the sea.

Good guess, but no.

Yes, I didn't realize it until after you posted your answer.  (laugh)

With regards to doors, would any opening be considered a door?

Spoiler
Another guess would be an egg, but considering that most animals likely eat the shell also I'm not sure that would count.
