Hi,

Is there a way to use the ags engine to make an exclusively online game (even if it is a simple tetris style thing) or do the files always have to be downloaded?

Thanks

I found this information on another site and I thought members who use it to host their AGS games and walk-throughs should have a look at this page

AGS Games in Production / Footprint
Sat 26/05/2007 17:14:33
July 07 update
More rooms, 17/100 points, more of the story, still unfinished.
...................................................................................................

This is a small demo of "Footprint", a game that will contain the most basic things (in my opinion) the average person can do to protect the environment.

It's not addressed to environmnenalists, but to people who think it takes enormous efforts to reduce some waste or replace energy devouring appliances and fear they'll have to change their lives completely.

At the moment we have only 9/100, but you get to know  the cast :P

AGS editor asks for sql desktop installer when I try to run it on my laptop (win xp). The times I manage to run it, it won't let me save rooms and says I don't have rights to write to the file or that it can't find rooms or  something.
If it's just hardware issues, sorry for bothering you.

Microsoft releases software for xbox amateur games.
Good side: more people will get interested in amateur games. Bad side: it was supposed to be "amateur" games...

I know paid software existed before (eg Thegamecreators) but it didn't have the amateurs as its target group.

Hi

This happens only with the AGS forums when I try to open a board and only in IE. I've tried a couple of other forums and now  I'm using Netscape to post this.
When I tried to skip it said IE can't open the page anyway.

What teachers would love to say instead
Here is a list of 'non-child centred' comments they'd wish to put on the reports

...attendance is poor can you make sure it stays that way?

I need the following actions realised after I "look at" a hotspot:
Let's say I look at Hotspot 1. I want message 0 displayed, hotspot 2 enabled and 1 point added on first execution. So far so good, I use the interaction editor and everything is fine, only I want this sequence to happen for all the remaining hotspots...
Example: Look at hotspot 1, display message 0, enable hotspot 2, add 1 point on first execution, look at hotspot 2, display message 1, add 1 point on first execution, enable hotspot 3 and so on...

Is there a quicker way than using the interaction editor?

Thanks.

Beginners' Technical Questions / replay steps

Hi

Is there any way to follow the character's steps and replay the game in a film-like manner up to the point the player succeeded or failed?

FLE classes

Not exactly an adventure game, it's more like a revision tool for beginners' french ...

Most of the graphics and loops will be "recycled" from my archives, so this game should be completed fairly quickly , to catch up with classes.

Story: 90%
Graphics: 75 %
Scripting: -55 %Ã,  :PÃ,
(can't solve the controlled translation problem - I'm thinking of using something like "French word= english word" in the translation to get rid of it)
Sound: ....no idea. I'm not thinking of music but word pronounciation. I may ask for native speakers in the help thread when (if) I finish this...

How can I do that?
I mean, it is the same room but three different colours for example...and I want the same reactions. If I make three separate rooms, the player can't have the same results. Or am I missing something?

Thanks

Problem I:
I use someting like 78,976,441,586,941 :PÃ,  links regularly, I have bookmarked them, but I can't find an easy way to manage them. I even save them in wordpad and print them!
Problem II:
My computer crashes more often than the sun shines in the desert. There are links that I use only every three months, but are absolutely necessary. I save them in CDs, but it is a pain when I work on a document I have on CD and have to switchÃ,  etc.
(I also lose my CDs, floppies, and post-its all the time, since my house looks like having a kindergarden childrens' party :-[ :-[ )

Result: I lose very important (job-study) links or I start searching all over again because thay are so many I get lost.

Any ideas? Any suggestions? I'm desperate here...

Hello!

Not stictly ags related, but I'd like to know what people find really boring or unprofessional on the websites they visit.
For example, some of them like "traditional" pages, others like flashy, shiny, bubbly things, others may prefer a "schoolbook", modest layout...

What do you think??

Hello all,

I'm planning to make a new "game" with AGS, which will be educational, not a real adventure game...
I would like to give the player a text file as an inventory item during the game. IsÃ,  this possible? If yes, is this possible without the document figuring in the compiled folder? I mean, I don't want the players to be able to read it before they earn it, for example when moving up levels.
I need a text file because the text will be quite long (grammar etc).

Thanks...

Judging by your silence, I guess it won't be that easy...I 'll have to be creative with this one...

Hi

From experience, do you think it's easier to mess with fonts, or make the game in english and then translate the whole thing? I tried to import ttf etc, but it still doesnt recognise them or I manage to create other , previously unknown bugs... :-[
I may think of a way to dodge it sooner or later,  but I 'd like to know what's worked best for most special-fonts using people.
Anyway, I'm asking because the reason I started using AGS was to make a non-adventure educational game for teaching french (and then I kind of got carried away). It' s useless if I can't use french in it, right?

Hello all!

This game is ready. It's about a woman who gets trapped in an imaginary world.
It is my first game, I hope you like it. I promise next time I won't fill the beginners' thread with sooo  many questions ...Link is at this site. Like I said, it is my first game, so I could do with some feedback...
For even more details, check here.

edit
In the readme it says it's a demo but it's a full game. I changed the content in the webpage but I forgot the document's one.

edit

Some minor updates are made and a new .zip file is uploaded, so it is likely that you have a "bug" version if you downloaded it before I fixed the link.  I'm going to upload the final update soon.
Sorry
CP.

Apart from restrictions like only having 6 objects in the room etc , both seem like having the same function. I can't  tell the difference.
