AGS nominations are being revealed as I type... :-D

Join in everyone!

I think I missed you all... I joined the channel just now and it looks like everyone's already gone home  :(

EDIT: Thanks Cassiebsg, I'm in now.

Now that nominations are over, I would like to suggest adjusting the nomination forms for next year, if at all possible.

1) Separate the categories into a page for it self, allowing members to vote in each category on their own time, instead of doing it in "one go". (I left my browser open to be able to take breaks... but would be nice to able to nominate in small steeps, as looking at that huge list can be a bit overwhelming).

2) Once you select a name from the list, a "picture preview" could be shown on the right. Can be just 1 of the pictures that is already in the db. And a link to the game page. Sometimes a name doesn't quite ring a bell, so a visual queue and a link to the game page would very usefull.

3) That's about it... Though am sure others might have some other ideas. ;)

(Sorry if I hijacked the thread... :-[ And I'll try to be there tomorrow. (nod) )

Cassiebsg - I agree. Nominating could be made easier and I think that would encourage more people to nominate. It took me maybe 15 minutes to transfer my nominations from the spreadsheet (thanks, Stupot+!) to the pulldown menus yesterday, and it felt like more of a chore than a pleasure. Tick boxes might have made it much quicker (although that would take up a lot more space and a little bit of programming would be necessary to ensure no more than 10 were selected).

Another suggestion: in each category, list only the games that are eligible for that category. Listing them all in every category means that there are commercial games under "Best freeware game", full games under "Best demo", etc. I know this would require a fair bit of work from whoever is organising the nominations, but I think it would make it a lot easier for everyone when it comes to nominating.

Just my ideas. Anyway, the nominations are NOW IN, and I can't wait to see who we will be voting for!

Thank you for the kind comments, everyone. The updated graphics will appear in the completed game and aren't the in the demo.

Yeah! Well done on releasing the game, and just in time for Halloween too.

This is a spooky, creepy one. I hope everyone enjoys playing it.

> Some thoughts on the ceremony...

Snarky, are you in my head? That sums up exactly my thoughts.

Congratulations to all the winners and well done for the smooth running of the ceremony.

Jack, it's the client at the link "AGS Awards 2015 ceremony client" in your posting from 19:42:07. Is that not what we should be downloading? Or have you linked to the wrong version?

I have the same problem with version beta2. I was able to connect fine with that version earlier today.

UPDATE: OK, RC1 is working for me now. I was running it through winsetup.exe before, but this time I ran it directly. I don't know if that was the reason for the hang/crash, but if anyone's having the same problem, try running the game directly rather than through winsetup.

UPDATE 2: Nice show, and everything went smoothly! Well done all.

Is it just me or is anyone else having problems connecting? I'm running the release candidate that Jack's just posted. After selecting my avatar, I get stuck on a progress window that just says "Joining channels..." (with a randomly positioned random avatar next to it).

Or am I just here too early?

EDIT: I'm afraid it eventually crashed:

Right we'll get this done on Sunday 1st May.

Just to say THANK YOU Mods for taking this on. We all appreciate that you're making it happen.

A quick update: at the moment I'm "dehabboing" the backgrounds as per Theo's suggestion. They are looking much cleaner and fit in better with the characters.

Yay, Piotr! I'm excited too! Hope you enjoy the demo.

Here it is... the teaser demo for This City at Night!

Play the first few scenes pretty much as they'll be in the final game, apart from some updates to the backgrounds and few other tweaks and extra features.

Yay, voting is OPEN!

"AGS Awards votes close at 17:59 GMT on Monday 04 April 2016", reads the banner.

Given that the clocks go forward next weekend, is that 18.59 British Summer Time?
#78
Thanks, Darth, I will do.

It looks like the Games in Production thread for my game, This City at Night, might be locked as I can't see a reply button there, so I'm posting a quick update here.

Anyway, I'm still working at it. Just the last big scene to complete and a fair bit of tidying and bug fixing to do. And I've FINALLY upgraded to v3.3.4 from ye olde v2.7.1 :) It took quite a bit of effort (including buying a new PC) to get everything working with the new version but now it's so much easier to do stuff.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this game for cleaning up at the AGS Awards last weekend! You deserved it, guys. Well done.
