I've got a wide range of machines including:
* P1 120 Mhz, 1 MB sirrus logic graphic board, 32 Mb ram, Windows ME/Linux
* Celeron 333 Mhz, ATI rage pro, 196 Mb ram, Windows ME/Linux
* Celeron 500 Mhz, ATI rage pro, Windows XP/Linux
* Duron 1200 Mhz, ATI Radeon 9600 Saphire, 256 Mb DDR Ram,  Windows XP/Linux
* P4 2667 Mhz, Intel onboard 64 MB/shared, 128 Mb DDR Ram, Windows XP/Linux
* Apple iBook 800 Mhz, Mac OS X/Linux PPC

All systems run on both Windows (or Mac OS) and Linux and I've got access to several "more exotic" systems. I already beta-tested a few commercial games (mainly MMORPG's).
And, what is most important, I love gaming

yeah

by beat 'em ups I meant different kinds of games like Mortal Kombat or River City Ransom
Game Maker seems to be very promising.  I think I already have this program somewhere around.

I use AGS (of course), MSpaint (drawing), The Gimp (touch-ups), Midi Maker (midis) and SCIstuidio (fonts)...

With those, I say you are fully equipped!

Well, I'm also a n00b to AGS and just started to do my first game. Some of my backgrounds are overdrawn photos so I use Photoshop firstly and then I do the 'fine' stuff with MS paint.  For background music I use Tracker software to creat .mod's and I use Cool Edit Pro 2.0 for voice and sound effects. To check my animations I recently used the free MS gif tool or the Animation Shop that comes with Paint Shop Pro.  that's it

I was looking for programs like AGS, but for other types of games.
I mean there are several RPG makers like sphere or there's 3D games Studio for 3D games/shooters, etc...

Well, I was wondering if there are programs to do jump&run games (i know it's also possible with AGS  ), beat'em ups or real time strategy games.

my name is klaus, I'm 18 years old and I live in Austria near the swiss and german border. Well although I didn't really play computer games like Maniac Manison when they first came out, I'm a huge SCUMM games fan - well and I like the newer ones, like MI4 or Grim Fandango too. Well, I started doing text adventures written in qbasic on my first 286 when I was 8 years old - they really sucked hards. A few years later I started to do 3D games with 3D Gamestudio, just some small stuff, and I never really finished that stuff. Well at the moment I'm finishing high school and I just had my written exams two weeks ago. At the moment I _should_ learn for my oral exams, but I found AGS by accident    I guess you all know what that means ---> not time for school

I was always into music (play guitar myself) and drawing (although i suck when it comes up to that). But what I liked most where books and stories. That's why I wanna do adventures.
