Coming back to the original question, I think a good way you and your friend from the US can play the same SINGLE PLAYER game, and just take it in turns, is to send the save-game file back and forth to each other. Or have a constant synchronization of the save-game file. All this other stuff about multiplayer adventure gaming with DOTT etc. just won't work. Adventure games are meant to be played single player - where there is one protagonist, and the player plays as him/her. I honestly can't think of any way that multi-player would work, but I'm not saying there isn't a way... I just haven't found one yet.

Ahahahaha! Oh my! I can't believe this was dug up, and I cannot believe how much deluded optimism and ambition I had!

The good news is... I'm still just as, if not more, interested in adventure games than I was 3 years ago.

Oh, and there was never a re-make of the game. AHahahaha.

Thanks for the replies guys. It's just that (and no offence) many of the games on AGS have poor graphics. They have great storylines (which I agree is the most important aspect of an adventure game), some of them have good music/sound, but many of them have pixelated and crappy graphics. I wanted to know whether it was that AGS cannot support certain graphics, or whether people just don't create higher-quality graphics. Now I know... AGS can do anything! :D

Thanks.

When you say it's a curse are you referring to the time and effort spent working on those graphics? Because I understand that.

I was really just interested in how well the AGS system can support such graphics. Will it run very slowly? Is it clunky? Curse of MI was only 640x480 resolution (I think) and it only used 16 colours (I think). It looked brilliant. Can I get those sort of high-quality, seamless graphics with AGS?

Hi everyone,

What are the best graphics one can get within AGS. The artists and technology external to AGS can produce great works, but I want to know whether AGS could support graphics say like to the standard of Curse of Monkey Island... or even better!

The game that I have in mind to create is going to be of somewhat epic proportions, and one of the main focuses is the unique and descriptive artwork. I mean fine, smooth graphics! Can anyone help me here?

There is software that can convert regular images to anaglyph images. I purchased Edimensional 3d Glasses a while back and it came with this software. When I get back from holidays I'll rummage through my CDs and see if I can find it.

Okay everyone, I have began writing the script and it's already 2 pages (woohoo)... I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas of the characters. I'd like to keep it very similar to the original, but I have implemented some of my own concepts and themes. The 5 characters are still Benny, Ellen, Nimdok, Gorrister and Jed (Yes i changed the name on purpose).

Any ideas?

Basically what I mean was how to write out the playscript of the game. Like how to set it out with puzzles and that. Should I just write out like...

NARRATOR: Bla bla bla blee blee blo...

Ezra picks up the key and can unlock the door, but he needs to put his oil on the door so it can unjam and open.

NARRATOR: And the door has been opened to a new world of magic and mystery.

Does anyone have any good sites of how to write an adventure game, or maybe a great book that I could purchase?

Barbarian, firstly it's a shame that you can't help in this project.

Secondly, this game will not be a Re-Make as such of the old game...

Some parts/puzzles will be removed.
Puzzles/parts will be added.
Graphics will be improved/different.
Sound will be improved/different.
Different storyline, but similar to the original.
Compatible to All Windows Platforms.

Hollister Man,

I appreciate what you've said, and I may have expressed myself wrongly. What I mean by 'you can't just slack off and do nothing', is that if people would like to be the Lead Artist, or Lead Coder.. then I'd like them to be willing. Of course I'd want other people to help aswell, but the Lead Artist's can't just make one picture and say, 'okay, that's it.. i'm quitting cause now i have my name in the credits'. And OF COURSE I would not make threats by firing someone, or taking them out of the credits, but it is an obligation that someone should do if they will make more than 1 or 2 pictures. AND DOUBLE OF COURSE, this game has no deadline... I'm not going to demand 2 pictures a month or anything, it's totally up to you at what pace you work at.

THIS IS WHAT I WILL BE WORKING AT:
Website
Music and Sound Effects
Playscript
AGS Scripting (But if someone could solely work on this, it'd be a help)

Hollister, you did sound like a smart-ass, but I don't care about what you said because I knew from where you were coming. (Even though I said id work on the music)  :)

Thanks, Ez.

I have finished compiling a draft for an Introductory Script to the game. It includes 9 pictures that would need to be drawn, and so this is even a big step. I'd really like some feedback on this idea though, because if it's going to work, I'll need people who are not only willing to do it, but are interested in this idea.

Well I know it is very ambitious, but it's not as if 'I' am the boss of the team and everyone will do as I say. It's a team and we will work together... but obviously that also doesn't mean that you can just slack off and do nothing. The artist/s will have to be very good and creative in order for this game to portray the novel. My dad has done jobs for different game companies in the past and both he and I will be able to provide a musical score. And then all we need (for the time being) is an AGS Scripter that has alot of time on their hands.

It is ambitious I agree, but there is no deadline for this. Everyone will work at their own pace.

What do you all think?

I have some great ideas for the adaption game, but I need to write them properly for viewing first. So that's all..

Hey everyone, I always watched my older sister play 'I Have no Mouth and I Must Scream' when I was about 9 or 10... and now I have played it again on my old computer. For those of you who love Harlan Ellison's work, Science Fiction, or Horror Adventure Games, then you should definately play this game. There is only one problem though, this game only runs under DOS, and with Windows XP Bill Gates hasn't included the DOS system. I had to play it on an old laptop, and it was crap.

If anyone would like to join me in creating a new and possibly adapted version of 'I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream', which will be compatible on the Windows Platform, PLEASE say so in this post or email me, and maybe we could get a big team of people to help. We'll need Very Creative Artists, Voice Actors (will come much, much later), My dad is a musician and we can provide a full musical score (I also do Sound Engineering and Music Technology), and an AGS Coder.
Anyone else that would like to be apart of writing the script for the game also say so. And if there's anything here that I didn't mention that you'd like to do then also please post here.

Thanks alot everyone, and I hope that we can come up with something great.

I HAVE NO MOUTH AND I MUST SCREAM is Copyright Harlan Ellison and Cyberdreams.

I have my room, and I want to make it so when the mouse is over a certain area (at the bottom of the screen), the mouse cursor changes to a down arrow. I guess I could use the SetCursorMode to change the cursor, but I don't know how to do the [if mouse.x = whateva and mouse.y = whateva] SetCursorMode(DOWN_ARROW);

Please help..
