General Discussion / Re: Trumpmageddon

The reason I hold so much anger towards Trump being president-elect (other than his obvious racist, sexist, supremacy shit of an attitude) is that not once in his debates or rallies did he say anything factual. Nothing he said gave even the slightest hint that he knew what he was talking about. It was always "this is broken" "this needs fixing" "that country is evil". Even when he spoke of industrial/commerce, which should be his biggest strength, he made it sound as though he was a student running for school president but couldn't remember what he was talking about.

I've watched dozens and dozens of Obama speeches and the man sounds like a genius. Even Hillary sounded as though she knew the ins and outs of politics - the so-called verbal reach arounds required to keep peace and to make deals with other nations. Trump doesn't know any of this. All he knew and all he stood for was hate. Hatred towards Obama, hatred towards Hillary, hatred towards USA. As if the voters all agreed: "I can really stand by this guy - he shares the same hatred as me"

Even when he spoke of businesses taking their production factories to other countries, he never offered any solutions. It was like his campaign was filled with statements as blank as "stubbing your toe hurts" and people would cheer because he knows of the problems people are facing - but they would dismiss that he wouldn't offer any solutions.

All he focuses on in his debates and rallies, other than hatred, is jerking off his persona of being successful and rich. I got tired of hearing him talk about how much money he claims to have. Or how many properties. Non of that was pertinent to his running for presidency, yet he would get standing ovations as though he just announced the solution to world peace. I simply don't understand the appeal.

Now, I wonder why would immigrants (Muslims or Non-Muslims) vote for Trump?
Because she's a woman.
Ha ha ha! (laugh)
Oh this thread has given me so many laughs already.
Sorry I am missing the joke. I certainly didn't mean to imply it was the only reason.

It was an observation from when I worked 6 years in a sawmill with mostly Indian and Pakistani immigrants. It was a big family values company which hired both husband's and wives and quite often I would observe a very inferior approach to how the women acted with men and their husbands. The husbands always drove. The husband often always walked in front of the wife. Even at times these women would step out of the way in hallways etc to let me walk ahead of them - which was the most awkward feeling ever. I also felt they would avoid eye contact. This observation could definitely be considered stereotyping as I've never been anywhere outside of North America, but it happened nontheless and it felt to me as though these women were inbred since birth with this ideology that men are superior. This behavior was almost non existent in those that immigrated into Canada many years earlier.

Also on my facebook feed, I have this cousin who is married to an American and she is a giant religious nutcase. Lately she's been posting nothing but congratulation posts simply because Trump disagrees with abortion. Nothing else matters to her about either candidate but that one single thing. Based off that, I'd say religion likely also played a big role in why Trump was elected.

And if that's what you think a normal human being talks like, who the heck have you been talking to? Who are you?
Clearly a typical American likely born into adhering to racist and sexist values instilled to him by family/town/state, and worse: a Trump supporter. There's no question why Trump got elected with responses like that. "I used to think women had cooties, but now I am a grown man who fondles them without their consent - like ALL normal human beings do"

I admit I'm a bit interested in Outlast and Lumber Island - That Special Place. Just not sure which to choose. Probably Outlast. I played a bit of Amnesia long ago and it was enjoyable.
Oh, do I say Trick Or Treat?

Wow that's some list. I had started to check each game title manually on Steam since 99% of these I hadn't heard of, but I got through a quarter of the list and went holy jeez and ran out of steam. I'm assuming you've played all of these? Would you know if there are any games in the list like Firewatch, FTL, or Zelda, or anything warm and campy and easy to play?

Trump's coming up with an even better spam-filter test for immigrants:

"Are you a human or a terrorist?"
I thought it was are you human or Skittle?

Other than the cord being too loose like a soft spaghetti noodle (when it passes over the wire itself - NES cables were way too stiff for that kind of sag ;-D) it's amazing work! Nice use of lighting too with the blue accent.

I've used Blender before and it took me a very long time to get used to it - mostly because I used Maya beforehand and I kept getting hung up on that 3D cursor. It would be fantastic if undo would undo the movement of the 3D cursor, unless that's a preference option I wasn't aware of. Once you get used to it and can start efficiently building what you need, it definitely turns into a powerful piece of software. But I eventually went back to Maya, and when you do, you start wishing it also had the 3D cursor. I do prefer Maya over Blender, but one cannot complain about the price tag of Blender. If I ever did make anything for commercial use, I would definitely fork over the cash for Maya, in the meantime I will continue to use my "non-legal" version.

Those who think they know all, know nothing.

I've been playing around with Maya lately modeling whenever I feel like making something. Currently making an anthropomorphic fox. Since I'm not all that great at modeling yet (quite bad actually), I have been copying heavily from someone else's work so I could keep the shape and style and still be low polygon. I believe their work was somewhere around 1250 triangles and I'm nearly double that. Albeit I did add more definition so that it wasn't as low poly, also I have made it with an actual mouth, but it's definitely something that takes a huge amount of practice and I'm not there yet. Just moving one vertex can dramatically change the feel of your character. I've been staring at it for at least a week now, playing with it here and there between life and TV shows (Stranger Things was amazing) but cannot settle on anything. I keep making adjustments and saying "wow, that made it much better. How could I not see that before?".

Anyway your work has impressed me and you've developed your skill way beyond anything I can now do. I can always remember your first attempts with your stylus - man you've come a long way. I've tried searching for them but no luck. Do you still have them? It would be nice for people to see where you really really started. I believe I called them painted pixel art, or that it looked like the town you had drawn was mold covered. ;)

The Rumpus Room / Re: The Ban Thread
Fri 29/07/2016 00:19:24
Oh moving ban thread... I am very upset! Shortly after I posted that message of my dog, my girlfriend had made mention of the old man bending down kinda taunting her behind my back with his hand outreached, with a look that said "what's wrong with you". Since my back was turned to the whole event I didn't know these details and since she hadn't mentioned them immediately, I simply assumed he was walking by ignoring the dog and she decided "hey, I'm gonna play with him". Then the day after the supposed attack the doorbell rings with some government worker at the door. She handed me some kind of rabies quarantine contract saying I can't give the dog away, put her down or let her out of the house for 10 days, aside from going in the backyard to do her business - but she must be leashed. I was furious! Why would you taunt a dog with your hand out and then get upset when it jumps at you?

Then to make matters worse, today my girlfriend and I started talking about it once again and she elaborates even further on the actual distance he had gotten to her. In this conversation she suddenly had said "he got in her face" and of course I say "woah, I didn't know this, you didn't say this! How close is: in her face?" and she moves her face a couple inches away from mine and says "like this". On a side-note: I've obviously learned that my girlfriend isn't very good as an eye witness unless you ask for specific details or she won't give them. Originally she had said he bent down kind of taunting her, and I think any person would assume any sane person would be like 6 feet away or something. But no. He got right in her damn face. All behind my back.

Ugh. I'm furious with this man. Now my dog is a recorded "biter / scratcher" (the government lady had said a scratch or bite is treated the same way, since I told her that neither girlfriend or friend saw her bite him, only that she jumped at him - and she loves to paw). It's not like any of us could see a wound on his hand. If she does it again, it'll make her look like a possible threat when all she wants to do is play! She's a good god damn dog and that man is obviously an asshole. I hope to hell he doesn't try to sue me. That explains now why the friend we were talking to on the sidewalk had said "I will be your witness if anything comes of this", but I was confused with what she meant since I thought my dog randomly nipped at him. Maybe I was too caught up in the moment to hear what either of them were saying to me, or it was this woman's strong Dutch accent, I don't know. Once the quarantine is up, I have to get her vaccinated for rabies, and also pay to have her registered with the town (things I am legally supposed to do as a dog owner, but most people I know don't do this crap), but now I have to because some old man wanted to taunt my dog and then call the government after she wanted to play and possibly hurt him.

You need to ban me. I need a break from life.

Dear moving thread. My dog just nipped at someone today while I was out walking. She's never bit anyone before. It was an old man walking with his wife. He didn't show me the wound nor did I ask, I was mostly frozen with shock and fear of what would happen next. I was focused mostly on my dog as once I processed what was going on, I held her mouth shut looking into her eyes like she was in some serious shit. He was holding his hand so I had to ask him if she bit him and he said she did... and that he was bleeding. He asked where I am living now so in case he needs to come back if anything comes of the wound. I didn't even see it happen. Girlfriend and I were standing on the sidewalk talking to a woman we know and my dog jumped at the man who was quietly walking towards us from behind. My dog is super playful and oftentimes likes to jump on people she's playing with, so since my back was turned that's what I thought it was, until I saw him holding his hand. Now I realize she definitely shouldn't be jumping at people and it's my fault I've allowed her to continue this as I roughhouse with her a lot, and now I feel I may have to tone it down. I also don't know how to treat this and I'm fearful of what the future may bring. At least I know that he's a nice man, as he used to live 2 houses down from me while growing up and he was always friendly. Makes me start to believe those old tales of dobermans going vicious with age.

[It's the most dangerous thread of all: Moving Ban Thread!]

Jeez Ponch, you really should consider manscaping the crack just a bit. Not good. It does muffle the farts a bit though, so that's a benefit.

Was I banned? I don't know. I somehow skipped a day and didn't even check the forums. Did banning me make me miss a day in my life or something? Thank-you Ponch for trying to catch the bullet for me but next time sell me for at least two cartons because I'm worth more than one piddly carton.

I freaking love Farscape!
Although if you've watched 40 episodes, and still don't like it, then I'm sorry... you're never going to like it (which is ok, not everyone has the same tastes).
Don't get me wrong though there are certainly a few episodes that I've enjoyed (like the episode where Crichton was stranded on an planet living with natives in a tropical paradise). As I said though, hidden deep down there's always that sad feeling of depression or craziness. It gets worse once Scorpio is playing around in his head for what appears to be an entire season. For one thing I absolutely dislike Rygel with how he should have a bond with these people, some kind of loyalty, but at the blink of an eye he's turning on them. But they always forgive him and laugh it off with "Rygel being Rygel" so to speak instead of just leaving him on the next planet - but they have no issues for all of them to rip off pilot's arm just to get a map to their respective homes.

Also, I find it funny that you compared it to Stargate. I usually do that too, but I call Stargate the boring version of Farscape.
I haven't seen too many episodes of SG-1 but only random episodes when I used to have satellite TV. I did enjoy the cheeriness and comical side of it though. If I were to pick a reason why I never got into it, I think it was the Teal'c dude with the gold patch on his forehead that always steered me away. But yes, Farscape and SG-1 felt very similar in ways. I do however enjoy Stargate Atlantis, but not so much Stargate Universe and the direction they decided to go with Dr Rush - who initially I had thought was a fantastic character and I had believed he was eventually going to warm up to everyone, especially to Eli.

Must agree with Danvzare. If you don't like it after 40 eps, then give it up.
I probably won't give up on it just yet. It'll always be on my Netflix back burner for those days when I eventually get back around to it.
