Avast is quite good. Gets rid of many annoying spyware too.

I'm happy with it since the last 2-3 years. It is free too.

Hi!
Grundislav, After reading your reply I played case 3 again and read the paranormal handbook chapter that came with it. I have got another idea that is...
Spoiler
Is Alice a witch? She is the same Alice Wilkins who was supposed to be "Smailholm's oldest resident" She somehow survived the destruction of the Pennsylvania cult in 1804? Ben Jordan is also from Pennsylvania. Is he a reincarnation or something? Maybe that's why Zortheus specifically wanted to sacrifice him in case 3?

I also observe that Zortheus and Mary don't "die" in case 3 like the other witch-townsfolk. Mary just disappears when assaulted by Zortheus and so does Zortheus when he is stabbed by the stake.

But maybe, this time I'm going way offtrack with my overactive imagination. ;)

To be honest, my personal theory is that

Spoiler

Alice IS more than meets the eye, didn't someone say that one of the tombstones in Smailholm said "Alice Wilkins"? ...
[close]

The above can't surely be a coincidence! It also seems a remote possibility that Alice had an ancestress with the same name 200 years ago. What I think when I put two and two together is:
Spoiler

The present Alice Wilkins is well...not really alive. I also think Mary has something common with her/something to do with her.  :-\ The "betrayal" could just be when Ben finds the truth about Alice being dead.

This probably might be the most weird theory so far, but I strongly suspect this.

The most interesting thing in the BJ games (apart from story and puzzles) is the setting in various countries.

I got to explore scotland, Japan and even Greece. It would be great if a Ben Jordan game featured India as well!

I might just decide to log into yahoo and check my mail "in about 5 minutes time". Then while, the page loads I decide to check the bigbluecup site and browse through the various forums. I decide to click on a few links I find on the site to see if there are any new great games or tutorials or anything else. Well, then I decide to do a google search with those keywords.(or few related/unrelated others) When the google search results page opens, I naturally find pages which aren't relevant. But they look interesting and I decide to click on them. Thus I go into a 'click-click-open a new window-click again' spree and before I know it "5 minutes" has become 3 whole hours! I curse and slap myself(mentally) but decide to go through just one last page.  :-[ >:(

The only thing which makes me get up from my seat is if there's a "power failure". which ironically seems a good thing now. I think internet is an addiction much worse than TV. At least if you surf through 100 channels twice and don't mind anything interesting you do switch it off after 15 minutes. With the internet it just like it hypnotizes you literally!

At last another BJ game! Congratulations Grundislav. I'm starting it right now.

Hi Johanas!

The game Backgrounds look really good and the story seems intriguing. I so much want to play the game.

But my problem is:
I tried downloading the file and lost the net connection a couple of times. I'm currently trying to download and its saying "40 hours remaining".

Unfortunately filefactory doesn't support download accelerators. Is there an alternate mirror link?

Or you can try putting the file in quicksharing.com(read somewhere it supports accelerators & 300mb+ files) or splitting the file (separate music.vox) and putting them in AGS uploads. (If its possible)

Sorry for being so whiny but I do want to play this one.  :)

I would certainly call a game full-length if it has lots of interesting locations, variety of characters and loads of puzzles spun around them. A complete 'world' inside the game. It should take around a week or so to complete the game (without getting hopelessly stuck).

For eg: A game like Pleurghburg or Monkey Island series or King's quest is a true- full length game.

I recently loved playing 'A Tale of 2 kingdoms' but I'd say it is a medium-length game if compared with 'King's Quest 2 VGA' and I wished it was longer.

Absolutely Hillarious game! It was like going back to the world of the old Larry Vales games. Just the thing to liven up one's dull day.

I finished it in just a few hours.

Two thumbs up.

Please do consider a sequel with the same characters.

How 'bout  "The return of cousin Macaroni and mutant Rigatoni"  ;)

Thanks a million Radiant for making this fantastic game!

It was exceptionally wonderful and wonderfully exceptional.

After a long time I got to play a full length fantasy adventure.

I wish you had made all the quests compulsory and tied it to the main storyline. I finished the game and realized I hadn't done so many things and played again (looking at the er.. walkthru this time :-[) to see where I'd gone wrong.

I was hoping
Spoiler
We would somehow see Maeuldun getting married to the princess. I know there was the lady Branwyn, but the main character getting the princess seems more romantic to me somehow.

Also I could have sworn that the goody goody Lord paradur was the culprit and the ending of the game would involve throwing him and the snob jeweller to the gallows.

Loved the characters, especially the pooka and the scarecrow. The music was divine. A screenshot of Thena na Oge is my current desktop wallpaper.

Waiting to see more of your games in the future.

PS: I also loved playing Warthogs.

I find Getright by far the best among free/free to try ones. And the nag screen also doesn't bother much. DAP is spyware-friendly and Flashget just didn't work!

But If you have a local firewall or something, then I'm afraid no download manager will work. (I had the same problem and found out that my LAN firewall was blocking all DMs, chatrooms and P2Ps)

You'll just have to try your download when the traffic's the thinnest.

Good luck

I downloaded AGS in the beginning of 2004 and I was like..

I got to make a game! I must make a game!
But I worked hard for 2 weeks (or less) and made a game & thought I've got to share it with the world! Oh boy, people I don't even know and all over the world would be playing my game.I was so excited.

So I put 'Framed!' in the net in a hurry.

Some people were exceptionally encouraging to the over-enthusiastic newbie & some were plain blunt. (But I didn't feel they were untruthful ever)

However, I realized soon enough that I had goofed up with the story & plot somewhere (not to mention graphics) in myÃ, child-like overenthusiasm.

So I decided to really think try plan , work hard on the story, puzzles & graphics forÃ,  a long time before I put forth my second attempt. But, the trouble is its becoming way too long (the time that is) and I can hear my old "I must release my game soon!" voice deep within my head and I'm fighting it to keep it under control.Ã,  :D

Best Story:
Trilby's notes
Lonely Night
Duty and Beyond

Best Gameplay:
Duty and Beyond

Best Music:
Lonely Night

I'd really like to recommend 'Duty and Beyond' for its interesting story

and captivating Gameplay. The graphics reminds one of the golden oldie adventures.

EDIT: Sinitrena'sÃ,  'Lonely Night' has got a wonderful ambience created by the music. The story tugs at the heart strings. It has the most unique player character.

Thanks. :-*

Ã,  Ã,  Ã, What do you look for in your adventure games? What appeals to you most? What attracts you to an adventure game?
Ã,  Ã,  Ã, I find that the most important thing for me is immersion. I really need the game to keep my interest, have excitement, and be enjoyable to play. So I guess the story line has a lot to do with amount of immersion in an adventure game. If it has a great story I find it will meet my requirement; as it WILL hold my interest, have excitement and be enjoyable to play.
Ã,  Ã,  Ã, What does everyone think???

Thewalrus

Goo, goo, ga, joob!!!!!!!

If somebody made a survey, I won't be surprised if itÃ,  reveals that most adventure game fans are introverts.

Adventure game hero/heroines are also mostly lone creatures.

I love to play adventure games as I get a chance to meet new and exciting/weird people, go to fantastic new places and do things virtually that I wouldn't dream of doing in real life. Adventure games give me an opportunity to 'do' things I'm too shy to try in real life.

I love the games with a lot of opportunity to do the above. But I play almost every game I can lay my hands on. The only times I've left a game incomplete were due to:

-Bugs which won't let me complete the game.
- Very very poor language
- minimial interactivity (There's a big room full of objects and you keep clicking on them with no response at all)
- Highly complicated, fancy but difficult to use GUI

Getting stuck frustrates me as well, but I generally figure out the solution by hook or crook.Ã,  ;)

Awesome game Sinitrena!

After 'lonely nights'(The old man game) you have done it again! I just loved the ambience created by the music.

The story had an urgent pace and it forced me to complete the game in one sitting.

I generally love such psycho killer games and you handled it so uniquely-- With the whole story happening in aÃ, flashback.

BIG SPOILER BELOW!

Spoiler
By the time the second murder was comitted, I figured out that it was not a case of split personality but the twin brother was the killer!(I had spotted the different eye color and speech color of the 'dream guy' I was happy to see I was right. It was sometimes so easy to miss the difference.

Its a must play game albeit a short one. But adventure fans musn't miss this one at all.Ã,  :)
Two thumbs up!!

Seeking a standard url for the game "The Oracle"

Hi to all! Does anyone know if the AGS game "The Oracle" is available in site with a standard url?

Something like www.site'sname.com/sites_extension/oracle.zip

and NOT

www.site'sname.com/ABCDXYZEFGH7JKIOPE34_ORACLE.ZIP

Meaning,Ã,  sites excluding the likes of fileplanet or filesharing or rapidsharing. They generally randomly generate a url which gets expired in a few hours or couple of days or sometimes minutes! I have a snail-slow dialup connection and I've got to use download managers and can't complete such a large download in less than a fortnight maybe or more. (Doing every 1mb or so in a sitting). I tried looking for the game in

http://aafiles.bicycle-for-slugs.org/.

But its not there. I check that site often. But I guess its a large game so they have'nt put it yet. I'm not sure who manages the site or how to request for a game to be made available there.

I really want to play the game as its bound to be one of the best games of the year. Any help please?

Hi Mordalles!

It's a fantastic game with a plethora of locations & characters & a variety of mind teasing (but not irritatingly difficult) quests. The eagerness to find the pizza ordering guy kept me anxiously glued to it.

One of the best things is: You have made such a big full-length game but the file size is so small! True, you didn't have hi-fi 3D graphics but you proved that you don't need these to make a great game. The graphics were colorful and atractive in a unique way of its own.

The music was fantastic & suited each world perfectly.

I only have a problem with 2 things:

1)
Spoiler
The game had so many dead ends. I couldn't locate the loose rocks in the underwater area (didn't know they existed). I finished the London part & the armour part then I realized I must have missed something in the submarine part & had to play all of it again. Wish u had warned about dead ends or had something like "I can't go back yet" or "I don't have everything I need" message. Finally I lost 3 points as I realized I should have caught 2 fish in the submarine part after opening the icy water door. ARRGH!

2)
Spoiler
The ending. I was disappointed on finding all of it a competition. I was expecting a psycho magicianÃ,  who hated pizza delivery guys as he had become grossly overweight for bingeing on pizzas. So he wanted to torture & kill them. ;)

I didn't/don't mind about pixel-hunting. It was fun and none of the objects were too difficult to locate. (Even if I couldn't locate the rocks.Ã,  :-[) If you are an adventurea-gamea-fanatic you must have a keen eye for detail.

I'm eager to know what the ending might have been if I'd scored 355/355.
Was it essential to

But all said Duty & Beyond just happens to be a wonderful game & thanks for making it. Waiting for more from you! I'm also waiting for the third installment of the Mordy series.

Cheers!

Just finished playing Bog's Adventures.

Amazing game Wretched! You made hell quite interesting. As always your games are highly addictive though quite a bit difficult. I don't know where I'd have been without the walkthru.

I also loved the variety of different locations to explore. The game was really full-length ( as big as the commercial games of yesteryear). It had me drowned in Bog's world completely.

I almost cried when I just couldn't shoot the correct pigs as I thought I'd have to stop right then and wouldn't be able to play till the end. Thank heavens I managed it!!

Please make arcade type scenes optional in your future games and also in this one if you can release another version. Coz its a must play as I said earlier.
Two thumbs up to you!! ;D
