Hello,

I am looking for an old PC game

The main character is a spider, quite possibly a robotic variant.
There is a twist, you don't control the spider directly but manipulate it's surroundings. Pulling levers, operating doors, etc.

The game is in 3D, most likely for windows 95/98 and very low-poly if I recall correctly.

Thanks.

Some ideas, mainly reworked shading, head moved 1px to the left and it's width reduced by 1px. I took a look at some coat images as a shading reference, started with the larger volumes and then worked my way to the details. Defining the shape of the head is a bit tricky because of the small space but I tried my best with such limitations.

Here's how it works on the background now:

EDIT: Some more tweaks.

A quck paintover:

1) original sprite
2) removed shading, shoulders modified
3) some color corrections, low contrast made details hard to notice
4) shaded the sprite once more

I probably went overboard with this edit but it was fun, nice sprite. :)

Right click on my computer > manage > disk management. Right click the partition you want and look for "Change drive letter..." or something like that.

A great sprite.

I made a small paintover reworking the head and it's shading:

It's just a basic shape + some shading with a light source above the sprite. Now that I look at it, the brightest highlight should be toned down more.

One version with the smaller eyes keeping the resolution in mind.

Looks like it is still active. Got my key today.

Thanks for the info.

One option is to speed up the process by making modular background elements such as slopes, grass, cliffs, rocks, trees, etc. and pasting them into a image to create the outline of the level. Detailing further and fixing the seams as you go along.

Is this still available for purchase? The progress bar says the offer ended but 10 and 40$ paypal links are still down there.

5-7 days per session sounds good with a reset on thursday. Haven't played survival island that much but it seems it turns into regular minecraft after that period.

Thanks for whitelisting/fixing my account btw.

I get the same error logging in as DrGeiger even though I appear to be whitelisted.

QuoteOPL-3 FM 128M.sf2 - Zandro Reveille of the of the ZSF project sampled the GM instruments from his SB16 ISA perfectly.  I can barely tell the difference from the real hardware. This is the soundfont I was looking for when I started the research for this page. - 57Mb compressed
Download link
It is a soundfont bank comressed in .sfpack so you'll need to use SFpack to decompress it back to .sf2.

After that you can use a soundfont player within your DAW to play these instruments.

Original page - you'll find more .sf2's ripped from vintage audio equipment, I recommend checking out the MT-32 soundbanks.

If you want to use it to play midi files inside foobar, get the MIDI synthesizer host plugin, or use in_aSyFon in Winamp (did not test that one).

I cleared the area which sounds like the one you're talking about, try reconnecting.

If it didn't work, try using the generated map to show us the spot.

Quote from: Gabriel_DownAnyway I'm off, you're right we are programs in some machine, and we can simulate life et cetera that's why we haven't even start to make the slightest AI
Well, there is "the Blue Brain Project" and a simillar project which simulated a mouse brain (actually, half of it at 10% speed for 10 seconds).

Quote from: anianAnd even if this theory is correct, you're basically suggesting that we're living in someones simulation, so by further contemplation - why would you care. If you are, than life loses just a bit less meaning and besides nothing you can do can change this relationship, you might as well say people that you see on the TV actually live in the TV, they/we are also bounded by the restrictions, we can't exit the universe and even if we could, what would you accomplish by it?

And might I add that this theory doesn't really awnser anything, you're just adding a layer, you do not explain the mechanics or origins of this universe. Might as well say "God did it" and after the inevitable question "Why?" just anser "...because".
This thread seems to be more about interesting conversation rather than finding meaning on that level.

Since the theory relies on statistical data I don't take it too seriously but understanding some of our current limitations we might just as well be in a simulation.

I'm reminded of an old text adventure, "A Mind Forever Voyaging".

Also, Half-Life 2 had excellent AI.

The head movement doesn't look natural. Sadly, it can't be removed since head is 6px wide and the shoulders 13 and that one pixel does make a difference at this resolution.

I tried a quick edit narrowing the upper body to 12px but it makes the sprite look disproportionate:

Not pixel art, sorry about that:

Steps (Gimp):

-took an monochrome bump map I made some time ago
-it's tileable so it was placed easily in the place of the wall, used the perspective tool to make it appear correctly on the side walls (in additional layers)
-used the gimp's bump map feature to render the shadows for each wall (filters>map>bump map)
-set the bumpmap layers as "darken only"
-duplicated the layer with the wall in the middle, deleted the section outside the highlight from the window and set that layer to "lighten only" for additional contrast where the light hits the wall

Thank you.

Could you add me to the list please?

I just saw a skeleton hitching a ride on a spider. Not a clipping bug, sitting. Was that present in earlier versions?
