To put it simple, I've exhausted all the means I have within my reach to find this game. I'm looking for Westwood Studios' Lands of Lore III from 1999. I've seen the game listed as abandonware, yet I haven't found it on any abandonware sites I know of. I've googled and tried everything I can think of, including DC++, emule, google, torrent sites, and some google.

So, can anyone help me out? I'd like to find the game, but it seems to have vanished off the internet, so I was wondering if anyone here knew how to acquire a copy?

I appologise for the short delay, took me some time to get over the shock.

So, this time you are supposed to draw a comic that contains, but is not limited to, the following:
- One panel
- Something spanning from frame to frame
- A motion blurr
And is themed The Sequel.

We made this tent here...

But we're not quite happy with it as it is, and don't know how to improve it.

Suggestions and paintovers welcome. Thanks :=

Hello, here is me again. I made another game, again for the OROW competition. This time, luckily, I didn't win. I hope you don't completely dislike this one. And now I want to be theatrical.

A Gunshot in Room 37
An OROW4 entry

"...at around nine PM today a gunshot alerted the hotel security to room 37, where they were greeted by ..."

What they shall find is up to you.

I really do. But I can't think of a subject.

So then I wonder, why do people start pointless topics so much? What's the point?

It just seems to me that there are people all around who just have the ultimate need to post something. Why don't we stop thinking if the post really is up to the golden rules? Giving them a glance just now I think this thread is conflicting with the first one.

What drives some people to post without reason? Is it just sheer attention seeking? Or an attempt to raise post counts?

I know I'm not that trigger happy, although I do make useless posts. But if I have nothing to say on a thread I just leave it. Why can't some people do that? We'd benefit from it a lot if they did. Reduced server load (not a big deal tho, I guess), threads would stay on topic and quality of conversation ought to be higher, moderators would have a bit less work to do, the persons making these posts wouldn't lose the little reputation they have left... and world piece. Pees. Pease... stuff.

Not naming names or pointing fingers, just generally. This does happen in about all the forums out there.

I started this thread a bit late, but I started it, anyhow.

Tomb of the Moon

Entry (and winner of public vote ¬¬) of the third OROW competition.

Download here - 3mb (The zip contains the game as it was entered to the OROW competition. Only the readme has been modified since.)

A short game about an adventurer and archeologist, Adrian Ford, in the search of the Tomb of the Moon. Or rather, what happens once he has found it.

Yours truly is responsible of the story, the music, the scripting and design. Pablo is responsible for the graphics.

Thank you.

What is a Photoshop Phriday?

Photoshopping isn't drawing a completely new image -- It's editing images to create a new image, such as editing one image or combining several images. The contest usually lasts for a fortnight. Also, you don't have to specifically use Photoshop -- Paint Shop Pro, MSPaint, or any other programs can be used. Please make sure your image doesn't exceed the width of the screen.

See this link:
http://www.somethingawful.com/photoshop/

And for other examples, see here:
http://www.worth1000.com/

-------------------------------------

Soo, Mittens went, and here we are again, presented with a load of new photos :D

So, the theme this time is Putting the Mittens photos into context.

I will now make a desparate attempt to explain: Rather than changing picture description to match what is happening in the picture, change the picture to match the description. That is not an actual, guideline, just... ah, whatever. Here's a quickly whipped up example:

m0ds finds... a gun?

(I'm not here to win this competition, you see.)

EDIT: Let me clarify: You are not supposed to photoshop an image and make description for it. You are supposed to edit the picture so it fits the existing description. Thanks for your time :)

The copyright of this time's rules are belong to Vel, but as he is somewhere away, he bribed me to post them here. Here goes:

We all know the bridal march, but there isnt a divorce one. Write a tune for a divorce/breakup. It can be anything from a church organ-driven piece to something like Uriah Heep's sweet freedom. The only limitation is that one of the leading instruments has to be an organ - be it hammond, pipe, church or reed.

And I by no means encourage you to pipe it down ;)

(omgverybadpun ¬¬ and yes, it was mine.)

The unexpectable has happened, I've returned to the CL...

Anyway:

Original:

New one on 05-12-05:

I tried to make a type of fireladder, but everthing I tired looked awful. That's the best I got. And I don't like it.

New one on 05-13-05:

So I did the outlines to this point. I managed to improve the ladder, but the platform is way out of perspective, and when I tried to make it "flatter" in the image, it looked really messy...

New on 01-05-06:

I just whipped the ideas out of my head and did some corrections according to what I remembered of this thread's contents.

Work in progress. I'm starting to be happy with it so far, but what do you think? Anything there you don't understand? Anything clearly out of perspective?

I'm soo bad in starting topics... so I gotta find some reason. Well, this day is one good reason, atleast for me...

My 18th birthday...

...and how typical, only one of my friends at school remembered... and it was not the dearest friend of mine...

I was working on a project of mine, when I ran into this:

I have set up so that I have a virtual, invisible character for each NPC, that has the items the NPC posseses, as inventory items, and when the player comes to buy something from the NPC, the player character is change to that virtual character, and the trade GUI is opened. The GUI consists of some labels that display various bits of information, and an inventory window. The buy system works like a charm, mouse click when the pointer is over an object processes the buy event and so on, it's fine. When the trade GUI is closed, the player character is changed back to original, and his inventory is displayed again.

The problem is, that I can't see the items on this inventory window. I know they are there, as I made script that, upon right-click on inventory tells the number of inv item #0's that the player has, and I only get the report when there is an inventory item under the cursor. But I just cannot see the items on the second inventory GUI, which is initialy visible, but it has no items on it before the trade GUI has the trading NPC's items.

I'm using AGS version 2.62

(And naturally, with my luck, now that I go to play around with it some more it works... Or atleast I hope so, for my sake, as that would solve my problem ::))
#13
The link on the "Download AGS" pages takes to v2.61 of acwin.exe without mp3 support. I was wondering if 2.62 has been released without it? I somehow like using the mp3less version better...

I'm not sure what is wrong here, but after a lot of moving these things around I got my game to compile. But:

Script link failed: runtime error: unresolved import 'plrst'

(or something very close) When I run the game exe.

I put alike in the script header:

struct playerstat {
  int health;
  int money;
  int exp;
  int weapon;
  int armour;
};

import playerstat plrst;

I just can't figure this out by myself... I'm not a C coder or anything, so I've put that up based on what I've seen elsewhere.

I'd greatly appriciate if someone told me how to get rid of that error.

I ran into a little problem... How do I make an easy proofreading file of my game?

Translations dump everthing to the file, but AFAIK you cannot use them to replace original game text, you can just make a proofread translation... or can you? If you can use translations, then this post was useless, apart from bringing this to my attention.

Dumping all game text is meant for this, right? But: when I dump the text, ticking Text Scripts puts in my whole global script, which makes the file long as what. (I know why this is). But there is nothing to include property texts into! Or is there?

So, could a "Dump text for proofreading" thingy be added? Somehow maybe intergrated into the normal text dumping? Something that dumps text just like the translation source, but for proofreading purpose, so that when you import this file, all the changed text will be replaced from the game.

Am I making any sense here?

Yesterday my new laptop turned a weird effect: It started to get extremely hot in just a few minutes, and the computer seemed like 3MHz machine. Programs and games (AGS, Doom3) ran fine, like on my old 266MHz laptop. But normal use, like brosing the start menu, was HELL.

I looked into it, and what do you know, all 1.6GHz CPU used all the time (it wouldn't have probably even heated up if ony the 800MHz that the processor speed automatically drops to if there's no need for that much CPU). I looked into what uses it all, and I discover that a SYSTEM process called "spoolsv.exe" uses it. Normally, with winamp on, the usage would be something like 4% maybe, but this thing was draining nearly all the time 99% of the capacity. I tried closing, and XP told me it's going to shut itself down in a minute. I've reasterd the computer like ten times, always the same problem.

I tired to look through the microsoft homepage for support, and after finally finding a support link, I was asked for the product ID, and getting it was hell as I had to open up the laptop and seek the number from the system properties window. Well, I write down my PID to the ms support page where it's asked, and bam, "No free support is available for you". So I go to the HP page (my laptop's a HP) and search through the support... and WinXP support nowhere to be found.

IF A MICROSOFT SUPPORT MANAGER DUDE HAPPENS TO READ THIS; SCREW YOU! And if someone who knows a microsoft support manager dude happens to read this, the that microsoft support manager dude to screw himself.

Not only that the XP look hangs the computer every time I open winXPized folder (like Network or Control panel) thus I am forced to use the classic look, now this!

Anyone got any ideas on what I could do? I'm getting desprate(sp?)...

Here I come again... So, I have an ADM Athlon 3000+ onboard my laptop. Very good. The only problem is that it's running at 797MHz. The settings are wrong, but I do not know where to change them. Well, I reckon it be the BIOS, but in this computer's BIOS there are no options to tweak the processor speed. Or, they are just hidden, and I cannot find them. Anyone know how to bring up these options or something? I'm not completely sure, but this notebook's model is something like HP Compaq nx9105, in case that helps out.

I ran cpu-z to check the processor, and it reported a multiplier of 4, HTT (some have FBS here?) of 199.5MHz, and the bus speed was grayed out. Any ideas?

...ok, it's not a 100-line function, something more like 50, but there's nearly as many lines in the rep_ex involved in the same event.

But here's the problem:

I created a very complicated gameplay for my game (see the banner in my sig). It worked nearly fine in the tech demo which I released, but when I upgraded the game to a newer version of AGS, 2.61, the script just stopped working. I have only made minor changes which do not concern the functionality of the script (unless I have messed something bigtime, and haven't noticed it at all...), only checks to make sure the character does not start walking to co-ordinates that he isn't supposed to and stuff like that.

Earlier, using the Interact -mode on a hotspot which had interaction defined, the script retrieved the characters destination co-ordinates and co-ordinates for the area in which the player must arrive for the interaction to get run. It worked fine, but after the update the interact mode only caused the character to move there, and the talk mode first launched the talk message set for the hotspot, and then the interaction of the hotspot, without moving the character there. I added a DisplaySpeech to the part where the RunHotspotInteraction is run, and it didn't get executed. So I wonder how it can run the interaction, but not the command right before.

So, have there been some bigger changes or possible slip-ups in 2.61, or have I just messed something myself and blindly ignored it every single time I have gone through the script? Sorry I can't post it here, I'm not on my own computer...

I was just reading a thread and notices Dark Stalkey's post (which I don't recall seeing in ages......) and you know what? Look left...

I got freaked out... don't ask me why.

I know someone here knows, how do I network two laptops? Seems real easy, but:

Laptop 1: Stuff needs to be moved from here (all my AGS files for ex.)
Windows 98
CardBus Ethranet card

Laptop 2: Stuff needs to be moved to here
Windwos XP Home edition
Integrated Ethranet connector

I have a crossconnected RJ45 (whatever the type is...) network cable, which I tried, but with no succes at all.

Someone know how to do this, or know to point me a site to help me?

I'm getting desperate(sp?)... I can't work on anything AGS related before I get the stuff moved... (nearly 3GB stuff to move, so floppy's are out of question)
