On my RPG, when a person uses a potion or mega potion, their health increases. 15 potion and 50 for mega. Is there a way I can do the source so that when they use a potion and their health is 90, their health doesn't increase to 105 but stops at 100. It would suck having to do TONS of conditionals for "If health is 90, add 10." and so on and so on. Please I NEED HELP!

My GUI is making me MAD! I'm trying to make inventory appear, but I can't! I draw stupid little inventory boxes, and then when I pick up something, it doesn't appear in the box! WTF! I think I'm doing something wrong. I checked the manual, and it was very vague on inventory. So... PLEASE! I NEED HELP!

AGS Games in Production / Shadow Assassin

I am currently working on a game right now called Shadow Assassin. It is about an assassin with a laser for an eye. He embarks on a mission to "terminate" three members of a group destined to start a war between on race and another. It will feature leveling up in:

1. Energy - The energy you have for your laser when fighting. The more experience, the more energy you can hold.
2. Health - The more XP you have, the more health you can hold.
3. Strength - the more XP you have, the more strength you have. The more strength you have, the more damage your attacks make.
4. Defense - the more XP you have, the more defense you have. The more defense you have, the less you can be hurt by monsters and other attacks.
5. Experience - the more experience, well, the better you are.
6. Money - You can use money to buy potions to increase your health, and other things that will help you in battle.

After each battle you will obtain a certain item. You will ALWAYS obtain experience. You can also get money, energy disks (which fill your energy), and even SOMETIMES NOT ALWAYS weapons.

Boss fights will be awesome! Trust me! Each boss has a weakness and each has a strength. You will also to fight something else before you get to a boss. For example, you'll have to break a cage containing a boss before you can fight the actual boss.

The story will be mind-blowing, TRUST ME!, with great plot twists, and one I am particulary excited about. You will meet many different people along the way. An important one is a girl with telekinesis who can help you immensly!

Expect a futuristic throwdown with awesome animations and fighting. An RPG with ARCADE MOVEMENT!! No "walk over here" or "run over here" in this game, you control it all!

I also might add platforming levels like climbing ladders, swinging on ropes, or jumping over gaps in ledges.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want to add voice overs. I just need talent. Everyone in my house sounds stupid when doing voiceovers. If you are interested, send me an email at bryanlanning@gmail.com. When I'm finished, I can send you a script to read and you can read it. I need for sure:

1. A deep proffesional voice (man)
2. A strong-willed, confident voice (woman)

These will be key characters. I'll also need assorted voices for bystanders and extras that really don't care.

Here are some screenshots of the rooms and the main character. I created all of these using Paint and the Gimp 2.2.










Fill me in on some suggestions or comments if you like. I'm going to code some more! What fun!

In AGS, you have the ability to change the display messages from Sierra style or Lucas-Arts style, but this is sort of holding you in a box under water with a hammer. There are other ways out of the box isn't there? Is there anyway you can make your own Speech Type. For the game I'm creating right now, when someone says something, I want it to appear on the top of the screen with a picture of them on the left-top and what their saying in a box next to it. Sort of like the stupid Pokemon games? Catch my drift? Anywho, just wondering if it is possible and if so, if someone can help me out. I'm sort of new.

Hello. I just ran over this game. I hear it's a platformer and it is quite good. I think the site was shut down though and I would really appreciate who has it upload it to a different server and give me the url. Or if you could just copy and past the source code, because I also wanted to look at that... PLEASE!!!! I really want to play this game!!!! PLEASE!!!!!

Advanced Technical Forum / RPG Battle Mahem!

I am currently making an RPG with a turn based battle system. Is there a way I can make it so that the character leaves the rooms after BOTH characters "HP" or "TOTAL SCORE" is < or = to 0? In the battle parts of the game, after the monster is defeated they leave the room and I don't want them to leave the room after only one monster has been killed. *fluttered*

Beginners' Technical Questions / Random Events

Hello,

I am currently developing an RPG with turn based fighting. When the character finishes the fight, is there a way to have an event afterwards that randomly chooses what to give the player as a prize. Sort of a like a 1 out of 2 chance they get a potion or 2 out of 3 times they'll get money. I was currently looking at Asporia, and realized they have random events as well. If the creator is reading this, how did you do it? and How do I do it for my setup that I have explained? Thanx.

Okay, I tried to download Bestowers of Eternity, by Dave. His games are awesome! Anywho, I deleted folders recently in my temp files in LOCALS and so I tried to download it and it couldn't read it's tempory file, but it also said the file was corrupt. Did anyone else get "Corrupt File" when they tried to download "Bestowers of Eternity"?
