With a little over a month left before the release of The Flayed Man, glad to say we're essentially 99.9% finished. We're just waiting for Steam to approve the build but feels strange to say we're for all intents and purposes finished.

We set-up our Discord today to discuss our game as well as the various influences from across media which you can join here: https://discord.gg/PUBXtEuBp7.

To celebrate we've also released a new teaser trailer which you can check out below:

I'm hoping to be able to include a button that takes players straight to the store page for DLC or to Wishlist for demos in the future via the Steam Overlay. I don't believe this function was integrated into the current plugin, and I'm not familiar with C++, so far having limited success in doing it on my lonesome.

Has anybody got a version of this plugin that allows for this function or an idea on how to include such functionality? Specifically for https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/api/ISteamFriends#ActivateGameOverlayToStore

Quote from: Yanek_Crispbread on Sun 26/01/2025 08:57:00Thank you, very kind of you! If you like Barker we probably have the same influences, like Cronenburg and Lynch. If you want another tester or anything else that would help let me know, happy to support :)

Absolutely, both of those guys are fantastic, I was gutted about the news of Lynch's death. And that's so kind, happy to return the offer.

Thanks so much. Also I've got to say it's pretty cool to have the dev of Abscission say so, as the bleak, creepy atmosphere you created in that game was a massive influence on The Flayed Man. Carnival has been on my wishlist for ages, can't wait to play it.

Thanks, Barker's whole use of psychosexual imagery was absolutely an influence on the game and design of the characters.

Snoring Dog Games Presents:

Official Trailer:

The Story:
You are the Flayed Man. Awaking without memory (or skin) in a decayed, otherworldly house where your every moment is agony, you must uncover the sins of the past, pass judgement, and decide your fate in this unsettling, macabre adventure.

Features:
  • A dark horror game with mature, disturbing themes.
  • Multiple endings depending on your choices.
  • An atmospheric and moody original soundtrack.
  • Evocative and chilling pixel-art graphics at 320 x 200.
  • Traditional point and click gameplay with modern mechanics and user interface.
  • Psychosexual demons that will give any budding psychologist food for thought.
  • ~30 minutes long, perfect for playing before bed, especially if you're in the mood for a nightmare.

Inspiration and development details:

I am very pleased to be presenting my first publicly available point and click horror game. When I was a kid here in the UK, I used to go to car boot sales and pick up point and clicks in odd smelling, musty boxes like Dark Seed, Shadow of the Comet, and Personal Nightmare for dirt cheap and scare the crap out of myself. There's also been some fantastic point and click horror games out over the past few years so thought I'd try to join them in giving players nightmares.

The game will be 100% free on Steam. I will be offering a supporter's pack for $4.99 that will comprise of the soundtrack and artbook to help fund our next game. It will be released on 17th April 2025.

Progress Report:
Graphics: 100%
Scripting: 90% - Just working to create Steam integration for achievements in-game
Dialog: 100%
Music and Sound: 80%
