If that's in answer to my question theSynapse, I'll be there in person ;). But I was toying with the idea of recording it, but it's too late now to get all the equipment together..

I know that! :-) I thought you were asking on behalf of others!

But yeah, what Ali said!

There will be a livestream via twitch this year, so yes you can join us that way.

Thanks a lot for all your work on the videos guys - it's great for memories, not to mention help for publicising the event next year!

Happy New Year all! Was a pleasure to have you all at Goldsmiths, and I'm looking forward to it next year already!

Schedule?

Whoops, just read previous post properly!

Don't worry - I'm not a proper forum member either, but I'm helping with the venue!

You won't be the only non-AGS Forum member there. Look forward to meeting you.

I'm Tom by the way.

Sorry I couldn't be there for Sunday :-(

But I had a great time on Saturday this year. I feel so bad that this is the first time I've missed a day of AdventureX!

Anyway, it's always a really inspiring time for me, and everytime I come I think, "Damn, should be working on an adventure game...". Maybe next year I REALLY should have something to show!

Hope Sunday went well and that you all have decent travels home.

Tom

P.S. Mods, you said come back to the forums....well....here I am!

I know it's late, but if you're still interested in voice actors, then PM me.

I'm a British mid-30s male.

Cheers,

Tom

I'd be interested in doing one of the Grave robber positions. I've done some voice acting before, and I'm from East London anyway, so it's kind of easier for me.

PM me if you still need it.

Ah, yes of course - I forgot about that in the light of Adventure Creators exciting debut!

I haven't heard anything else from him, and it looks like the Unity forums thread is dead doesn't it? A real shame since it looks as though he did a ton of work on it.

It's been released and it's available on the Unity Assets store for 70 USD.

Chris came and demoed it at AdventureX in December and it looks seriously impressive. I haven't had chance to use it myself yet, but it packs a hell of a lot of features and it's partly modeled on AGS - so that should interest most on this forum! It's also been updated to work with the new 2D tools and there's a new 2D demo out for it (the original demo showcases a kind of Walking Dead like format).

Hope that helps!

Amazeballs!

It's great to see this tool carry on developing and increase in support. Fantastic that it's getting good 2D support now as well.

Good one Iceman!

It was a pleasure to host it! I personally got a lot of positive feedback on how the event was going so thanks very much to those people!

I'm looking forward to next year already - onwards and upwards!

If anyone needs a room last minute that's cheap, there are 3 St. Christopher's Inns in London (I think), 2 in London Bridge/Borough area, and one in Camden.

To clarify, getting one of those rooms and buying a travel card for the weekend is a darn site cheaper than most other places you can stay! Other than something off of AirBnB I'd say the best bet might be the TravelLodge on City Road, but I wouldn't call it cheap last time I checked.

Sorry for late info, but I don't check these forums much.

I am generally sceptical of all GUI solutions because they invariably turn out to not be quite flexible enough for what you want to do.

Especially when it comes down to stuff like that variable panel thing where you specify conditions based upon bools and ints... it's just not flexible enough for someone who wants to break new ground a little.

Fair point, but all the source code is there. I presume it's going to be in C# Iceman?

So that means that you'd have to script extra stuff in C#. Although I've never actually used AGS, and can't see how this would be much different to learning AGSScript and implementing something in that.

I find this incredibly exciting news. Many people have been worried about the limitations of AGS for a while now - particularly the publishing options. This is a wonderful step in the right direction.

I also don't have much money, but I simply cannot see how any of you would argue that £44(ish) is a bad deal for this kit. The amount of time it would cut down in making your own system is vast, if it continues to evolve and be supported it will be worth even more, and all the source code is there so it's as extensible as you like.

Iceman - the price point is great. You deserve to make something off this! I'll be buying it in the near future.

Re: 2D features. Yes, Unity are incredibly close to releasing them now. I was speaking to some of the Unity guys at the ExPlay conference the other week (where they were demoing the new 2D features) and some are them are excellent and will make working in 2D a lot nicer. They've also made some improvements in the UI system of Unity (one of Unity devs biggest gripes). Whether these 2D features will be better than using 2D Toolkit or NGUI etc., I'm not sure, but it's a step in the right direction.

Iceman - if I wanted to do 2D stuff straight away without waiting for Unity to release their own stuff, do you think Adventure Creator would play nicely with 2D Toolkit? Any reason why they'd clash? I haven't used 2DTK at all yet, but it's what all the cool kids use (at least amongst Indies I've met)!

Again, well done on this outstanding achievement, and all the best for your business! I *so* hope you're all to come and demo this at AdventureX in a few weeks time, because this is an important step for graphic adventures I think.

I obviously remembered totally wrong!

Memory is a precarious thing...

Oh I don't know - it means she's his top priority(laugh)!

It was filmed and put on youtube anyway wasn't it?
