General Discussion / Re: Free Anarchy!

Yeah I heard about this a few days ago. So I downloaded the game, played it for a while and I can't say I was pleased with it... I may give it another chance, since MMORPGs need more than a couple of hours of playing to really lure you in, but still, I don't see myself choosing this over Lineage II or Phantasy Star Online as far as (M)MORPGs go.

General Discussion / Re: Wintermute ARMY!!!
Sun 19/12/2004 23:34:03
I check the Wintermute forums on a semi-regular basis, and I have never noticed any sort of competitive/aggressive behavior towards AGS and its community. So I guess it was just a bad day. And even if this weren't the case, why should we care? I can't speak on behalf of all the community, but I think that if some people want to be hostile against the AGS community for whatever reason, then that's their own problem.

Oh and Sophia's Debt and Dead City are both finished games created with Wintermute. There might be more, but I haven't noticed any. But yeah, it's a bit weird that more finished games aren't available, since the engine is not complicated or anything.

For some weird reason, I hadn't posted in this thread even though I've been meaning to do so for a while now. In any case, your game sounds (and looks, for that matter!) absolutely fantastic! The mere mention of music influenced by Akira Yamaoka is enough for me, but everything else (graphics, story) sound fantastic too. So, yeah, looking forward to the complete game!

By the by, oneironaut huh? Cool! On a side note, one thing I've always wondered is how that word is pronounced in English. :P

Well since I really like top-5 lists and all... (in no particular order)

Shadowplay (if it is released this year...)
Donna
Rise of the hidden sun
The Legend of the Lost Lagoon
Buccaneer 2

and the only reason I'm not mentioning FoY is because I doubt it'll be released this year (though I would love to be proven wrong :P).

Any chance you could release it for v. 2.62 too...? Or are you using AGS stuff that's only in the latest beta? Gah, that was a bad sentence. :P

Anyhow, I don't really want to upgrade to an experimental beta, so I won't be able to test your template, and I think others might feel the same. Which kinda sucks, since I love Larry 7's GUI. Oh, well.

April Ryan from The Longest Journey for me! And captain Thygh (sp?) from Larry 7, heh.

General Discussion / Re: Doubts about my gift.

Argh! My nickname is Lazy Z, not Lady! Please edit that or people will get the wrong idea. :P

And what do you mean by
Quotei would not download those adds, ... i would prefer to have the full program running into my computer, really.

You still run the full games by using DosBox/VDMSound, if that's what you mean. Those programs are just Dos emulators, nuthin' more than that.

Well, by using DosBox, VDMSound and a bit of luck or even alchemy, you can run most Dos-based games without any serious problems, so far there are only a handful of games I haven't been able to run on XP.  Heck, I've run more Dos games on XP than in 98! That being said, some games designed for Windows, such as Discworld Noir are very XP-unfriendly. Though if you're not going to use XP, 98 is the way to go, ME must be the most unstable OS evare! I have used them for almost a year, so I would know. :P

Otherwise, definitely get a new graphics card, on-board graphics cards are awfull when it comes to running modern games, one with 128MB VRAM should be fine, and you should also get at least 256 more MBs of RAM.

And yes, happy birthday!

I had the chance to play your game for a brief amount of time today, and so far I think it's really good! The graphics do their job, the music is really good and the story seems very interesting -can't wait to see how the plot unfolds! So all I can say is congratulations, panta tetoia! (that last part was in Greek, in case you non-Greek speaking people were wondering :P).

P.S.
Your name sounded kinda familiar but then I checked your homepage and saw the Kick Off 2 section and remembered you were the KO2 champion a few years ago! KO champion and a great adventure maker, that's quite impressive!

Competitions & Activities / Re: December MAGS

Ok, I'm a bit confused,

Quote- This game should have a translation in an other language than english as well or two different languages in-game (if you don't speack any other language you could write the words of the speech of one character backwards or something like that).

So basically can make up our own language, of sorts? What if we use a language that's considered "dead" (like ancient Greek) or one that was never really used, like the Elvish language in Lord of the Rings? And if this is so, does it apply both to the translation and the in-game language?

One word: Wow! Excellent job! The graphics are among the best I've seen in an AGS game, and the music is simply magnificent! The story sounds really interesting too. One minor complaint would be that the animation of the heroine is a bit choppy, but seeing that this is a demo, I can't really complain about it yet :). One question though, did you use SIMposium (or whatever it's called) for the sprite of the heroine? The way she moves kinda reminds me of that.

Really looking forward to the finished game!

Thanks for the suggestions so far, guys.

Well, I'm not really talented music-wise, so I'm not likely to need a soundcard for anything more than playing games and listening to music on my PC, so I think I'll skip Audigy and go for a Live! instead. One question though, is there a big difference between Audigy and Audigy 2? Just curious. :P

I've started upgrading my PC lately, and I'm thinking I should get a "real" sound card too, since so far I've been relying on my on-board AC97. I have to confess that sadly I don't know much about sound cards since I haven't been keeping up with things :/. I'm not looking for anything too sophisticated, just something with fair quality, and not too expensive.

I've been looking through some auction sites, and I've found some Soundblaster Live cards at cheap prices, but are those too old? As I said, I'm pretty much clueless :P. I've also found a Sound Blaster Audigy really damn cheap too, is that a better choice? And of course, if you've got any other suggestions to make, please do so!

Thanks, and if parts of this don't make sense, it's because I'm too damn sleepy...

I played the demo of your game earlier today, and while I am not the biggest Terminator fan around, I have to say I was impressed! The graphics are simply excellent (great animation too), and for once I am actually pleased to hear that there will be action sequences in an adventure game. Hey, it can't be a Terminator game without some action pieces. :P

Really looking forward to the finished game!

(edit: One small hint though, it'd better if you edited your post instead of triple-posting. :) )

If I had to choose just one game, I would say Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

But I prefer top-5 lists, so I'll add these:

Shenmue 2
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
The Longest Journey
Virtua Fighter 4 (not Evolution, because I haven't played that for more than 30 minutes...)

Hehe, what Gilbot said is true. Plus I don't usually use screensavers so I'm not really accustomed to .scr files :P. But yeah, what is up with that description?

I did the OS one a while ago, I got Win98 - though I would have preferred Amiga OS. :/

(edit) Nevermind :P

LOL!

That is so not true! What's an .scr file anyway? Never seen one, not that I can remember at least.  And by the way, I hate them for not including "adventure" in the "Your favorite type of video game is" question. Actually quite a few of the questions were a bit meh. And no, I'm not just saying this because of my result. :P

Completed Game Announcements / Re: The Cube

Hey cool, a Cube game, I loved the first movie (the second was kinda "eh"). Downloading now, I'll update later with my impressions.

You might also want to download the patch, it fixes some problems (mostly with the DVD edition, but still), it can be found here: ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/deskapps/games/public/texmurphy/tex5b104.exe

Those two screenshots look... astounding! So yeah, when will you release a demo?  :=
