Angles!

Adventure games have often viewed a scene from the side

'classic' view

With 3d characters you can use more interesting angles

3d view

Draw a new bg or remake a bg which uses an interesting perspective

Restrictions
No major restrictions on resolution (something sensible, like 320x200, 640 x 400 and 800x600 - not something silly ), colour and certainly not the god damn stupid 'must be useable as a bg not a cutscene!!1'

doesn't the perspective change in 3d? isn't it always different?

well, i was going for a black&white security camera angle, it didn't turn well, but i think that this angle is a brilliant idea:

ignore the random (not too long)lines, i was using GIMP and it can't undo too far:(

It's a pic of my CD player on top of my Chest of draws. The perspective is a upwards view from the floor- like you were a small animal looking up.

While Alphas has the best artwork (apart from the carpet, which looks like the texture filter ) I don't think the angle is majorly different from the norm that is the side on one. Infact, perhaps my example was a bad one, but none, apart from Haddas try anything too dramatic, oh well

there was a GDT on this a while back which showed how Hollywood did it much better than we have so far.

My vote to Haddas! Great angle, funny idea! Alpha has neat artwork though, but I still dig the viewpoint in Haddas' picture.
