My own music... creative and spontaneous action is the key

I am mainly "synth-freak", maybe, but however I am very emotional person and I am also very critical to music, that i only accept "honest" and meaningful music. In other word I like music more as "cinematic", for example, instrumental New age or ambient style. Also, I am more experiemental than classical. For example, I like improvising stuff "on-the-fly" and make music instantly for specific moment.

Remember I always just improvise and so I very rarely record anything as I can do everyday something different. I just have normal poor soundcard, but I can manage with it while I am not doing any serious music production. Here is my all songs I somehow bothered to record:

http://www.mikseri.net/artists/analogy.106176.php

Please don't mind although the site is in finnish language... but just take a look into my songs as they are titled in english and there is "download" button for each song. Also the first two songs are purely made just for fun in an experiemental style, so please do not take them so seriously... but however the two other songs called "Departure of X3" and "Genesises" are more likely what I really like to do.

Remember, every song in there are spontaneous and made instantly without any preparations. And instantly is meaning that making each song takes time as long as they are! Only "Departure of X3" was after all too long (over 10 min! when improvising, I clear my mind so the least thing I could do is watching clock!) so I cutted some parts away.

I guess if someone is up to making some deep adventure or other similar game, I could make music for such a project. I am serious too. If you are needing some more extra-ordinary stuff than normal music would suite, then you might like my own "production". Please let me know

One thing that I would like to see happen with films is for music not to be treated as just one more ingredient, but as an integral and fundamental part, due to its fatal capacity to affect the mood of the movie.

Ptp88,

Pretty good stuff. I enjoyed the references to other great synth-composers like Jean-Michel Jarre, Jan Hammer, Vangelis etc.

Especially Genesises was very soothing and relaxing. Brought me back to the good, old Equinox-days.

Well, that's not necessarily something to brag about. Even the best spontaneous ideas often need a bit of work to really stand out. Especially in the gaming/film world where a cue has to underline the events going on on-screen. Remember that everyone can pick a mellow synthpad and create beautiful soundscapes, but very few can breathe the needed life into them to make them stand out from the rest. So if you spend 4 minutes recording a tune you're spontaneous, but if you spend 10 hours afterwards tweaking and polishing off the details so, you're a pro! :-)

First, I second all that thomasregin said.

And second
some filtering could do wonders. Whatever you call your music genre yourself, it sounds Ambient to me. I'd use more reverb, delay and cutoff here and there. Also, those tracks sound like bases for much more complicated song. If you made another song onto your song, you would get a quality song.

What I mean by that is, you're using mostly single melody and instrument. But having both playing different tune at time, different notes, and supporting each other at same time would sound much more "full" and not so monotonous. Then again, monotony IS a characteristic of Ambient...

Do you know what beat is? It isn't simply to make song danceable or "popular" or force it into following a formula. It holds up the rhythm. You didn't use any... I would.

Apart from this, great stuff! Needs some polish, but it's really good at times.

Thanks for your opinions... but my music is made for purpose; I make my music in my own way and I want to keep my music always non-polished  ^^  I do whatever I like to do and honestly do not care about others what they say...

And I always do what I can with my bare hands and feets and I am still building up more expressive gear setup to be able to use more "sound sources" at the same time (Which is not easy for just a student budget!)

Spontaneous is the thing I need to "brag" about! Because no-one really make music seriously in that way! Listen Vangelis!!! Vangelis never compose but only improvise EVERY song. Only max. 2-4 dubs to add percussion and acoustic sounds.

"Especially in the gaming/film world where a cue has to underline the events going on on-screen..."

EXACTLY! Simply because making music instantly for a specific moments will suite soundtrack always much better than longer sessions because in then musician can keep the very first impression at best otherwise than longer composition where the impression will get a bit lamed.

Also I do not want to make longer sessions because I want to make music always instantly... but well... that's why I can stand-out from rest of all other musicians!!!

Why did you post this thread then? Are you lost?

This is Critics Lounge. If you have no respect for opinions of other people, don't post here. Infact, don't release your music. You can keep it in your computer and enjoy all for yourself.

Somehow, you got the joy of creating all wrong.
Especially since music is one of most expressive things to create!

Okay, I am sorry... I was meaning about the my own way of making music and not the songs itself. I do respect other's opinions too. I would like to withdraw that silly phrase I said....

np. I didn't say this to enforce my suggestions or something.
Create a while, listen to listeners, and you'll get what I meant.
