Emoticon Upgrade?

Well I was looking at the emoticons on the forum, and thought that the whole roger ones, mixed with the default yellow ones wasn't that great. I thought I might convert them all to the roger type. I also modified the current roger ones to make them slightly larger.

I havn't finished converting them all, and feel free to modify my attempts to make them better. Oh and I wasn't sure if this should be in the Critics Lounge or not, so I just put it here. Maybe if we can all agree on them they could be implemented into the forums. Well they don't have to be, but I think they look cool

I'm not sure about the eye rolling one yet. Also I think CJ said that he didn't really want many more smilies, but I figure the ^_^ and @_@ are used a bit.

Call me conservative, but as good as yours are, I still prefer the original ones... I guess I grew attached to them. On second thoughts, call me emotional.

I don't think anything came of it, other than the Larry Vales one being added.

I wouldn't mind a competition where people can enter their own versions of the smilies ... might be fun.Ã,Â I think it was decided that too many people liked them 'as-is' (I don't remember and I didn't re-read that thread)

I know I entered a few of my own design ...

Oh yeah I remember that thread now. The difference with these is that they are roger style, so they might appeal more to those on these forums. I was originally just going to convert the yellow ones into roger, but then found that he looked a little better a bit larger. Maybe its just me.

Excellent blend between old and new style!

Just a few things:
- Raise big eyes on "Shocked" one pixel
- Widen sunglasses on "Cool"
- "Undecided" should be like the old icon IMO
- Can hardly see tears in "Cry", use lighter color

I love them and would like to see them implemented.

I'll post the animated ones later this afternoon, so they should pop up, but I don't have time right now to put them together and I gotta go soon...

Here's my logic behind the smileys
1) Keep the "essence" of the original smileys and convert the yellow ones to roger
2) Improve the look of Roger to a more Roger-lookalike face (like proportions, etc)
3) Keep the original roger colors from the AGS palette

Other fun things:
- I always wanted to make the OTG smiley, but I didn't figure it would work out... but I think it did this time.
- Roger's glasses on the cool smiley are inspired by Jake McUrk's (Pleurghburg)
- Roger's look on the shocked smiley is the closest to roger's original look in AGS. I purposely placed the mouth slightly to the right because of that. Roger opens his mouth when he's shocked, and this was inpsired from Aushor's shocked smiley... even though in the original yellow the smiley doesn't move his mouth.

They are hilarious, but they make Roger look like a jackass in my opnion.

Good work - I really like the new designs; being slightly bigger means it's easier to see the expression, and I too just love auhsor's "huh" smiley

If nobody has any objections, I'll certainly use them as the new smiley set.

Oh, and SQ4.5, for your blasphemy you shall be expelled!

I prefer keeping the current set, but if I have to choose, I'll go with Auhsor's.
