You could use Winamp to play your MP3s and enable the Diskwriter output module.

You could use a tracker program that creates MOD files out of MIDI notes and converts songs into WAV. I, for example, use Modplug Tracker.

If you have a program to edit midi, then there might be an option to export to wav.

If you want to do it with only Windows programs then...
1. sound mixer: set synth as input source
2. start sound recorder
3. start mediaplayer with the midi-file
4. make sure that both programs are visible at the same time
5. sound recorder: start recording
6. mediaplayer: start playing
7. sound recorder: stop recording when midi is finished
8. sound recorder: save wav

by default the sound recorder only records 60 seconds, but you can also record longer:
record 60 seconds, then start recording again for another 60 seconds period. If the file is long enough to hold the whole midi, then rewind the sound recorder and start recording the whole midi.

it does cost money though, although there is a  free demo version that has some restrictions, but if you're converting midi's to wavs for sound effects it works well, cause it allows you only to save 10 second wav files.

If you need more, if you're clever you can break up the midi into sections and then join the wav files.

Also, if you've got an SB-Live or SB-Audigy sound card, you can set the recorder to record "What U Hear."  This setting will record anything that's output by the speakers.  This method allows you to save a WAV file exactly as it sounds when played on you machine.  It also allows you to use various filters, EAX Effects & different instrument sets.

I reccomend WinGroove. Google for it and try it out. Man, it's worth it.

Or using a Male-to-male cable to redirect sound from the ext. connection to the mic/line-in.  

Since many people have one of those cards, I figured that would be the easiest/cheapest solution.  It's a shame they had to throw some AOL-speak into the menus.

Ha! Ha! It is a lot easier! When you have recorded one file then go to your windows directory then to the sub directory temp and then copy the file ~av7ae.tmp and name it x.wav (x is what you want). Very simple made programm, isn't it?

You can do it with  MIDI to WAV Converter. Adding soundfonts you can get a really good quality of output files.
