I was playing and extremely enjoying the demo of the game
VVVVVV, an awesome 2D puzzle platform video game.
A really cool retro game so I thought let's post it here.  :)

Gameplay (taken from wiki):
Unlike most platforming games, in VVVVVV the player is not
able to jump, but instead can reverse the direction of gravity
when standing on a surface, causing Captain Viridian to either
fall upwards or downwards. The player utilizes this mechanic
to traverse the game's environment and avoid various hazards,
including stationary spikes and moving enemies. Later areas
introduce new mechanics such as moving floors or rooms which,
upon touching one edge of the screen, cause the player character
to appear on the other side. VVVVVV contains eight main levels
situated inside a larger open world for the player to explore. Due
to its high level of difficulty, the game world contains many
checkpoints, to which the player's character is reset upon death.

You should really go try out the demo.
(play online or download the Windows or the Mac demo)

I got it in the recent Humble Indie Bundle, and....errrr...played for about 15 minutes before I realised I found it kinda boring :(.

I dunno...I'd think it'd need more than that one gimmick (reversing gravity thing) to carry the game.

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

Seriously, is there anyone who hasn't heard of VVVVVV yet? :P

If you were regularly reading HardyDev, Arj0n, you would have done the smart thing and grabbed a copy of the game when the "pay what you want" offer was active last month.

EDIT: @Babar: True, the first 15 minutes are kinda slow and repetitive. But it gets much more interesting soon after.

You seem penitent, so I forgive your negligence.

I beg to differ, but that game has been out wwaaaayyyyy too long ago. So, what are we playing next? Cave Story? :D
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

Iji, of course.

Anyway, I rather enjoyed V6 but I found it a bit too easy and the graphics too simple.

Have you collected all the shiny trinkets? Some were quite a challenge to get to.

Spelunky!

Also I really should get around to playing Iji.
I keep being reminded of it, but I've never downloaded it...

Ehm, Those aren't screenshots from Spelunky...  :P
They're from the XBLA version, yet to be released.

Ah ok. But I do like the pixel-styled Win version,
reminds me a bit of Rick Dangerous:

I hate this game even more than I hated janitor joe

Yes. And I've also completed jumpjoe (ages ago, and it's pretty awful imho, even for its age).

If the trinkets and similar difficulty level challenges in other games are too easy for you, then I'm impressed.

selmiak

funny game, completed it a while ago. The last 3 or 4 rooms are hell!

and someone re/demade this C64 lookalike game on a C64
