Hey guys,

I know there are some soundfont users here, so I thought I'd post this:

My big soundfont project is finally complete! It's a electric bass guitar soundfont that pretty much covers anything you can play on a bass. You can read more about it here, and listen to the demos: http://www.manytone.com/ubk.html

The Ultimate Bass Kit is selling for an inexpensive $29.99 for immediate download.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it! :)

A great place for free soundfonts is http://www.sf2midi.com

There are lots of ways of playing Soundfonts. If you have a Soundblaster sound card (like Soundblaster Live or Soundblaster Audigy) it's easy because support for Soundfonts is build in. Otherwise there are free soundfont players out there. Look for SFZ: http://www.kvraudio.com/get/769.html

Also, I think the free music program Synthfont has direct support for Soundfonts.

Anyway, if you have any questions, you can always post here.

also, http://www.hammersound.net has some awesome free soundfonts. www.sonicimplants.com has some good ones (not free). I'll check out your bass font later ;D

First thing listen to the demo MP3s. :)

I love soundfonts. They're incredibly easy to use in Cakewalk, which is what I compose my music with. Geoffkahn, that sounds awesome. If I wasn't so incredibly poor at the moment, I'd think about a purchase, haha.
I make music.

Yeah that's what I meant :P. The samples do sound great and very real. Too bad I'm not allowed to buy anything online :(. But, I'll show it to someone I know who'll probably be interested to buy it

So the .MP3 samples were made with what sort of program? Sorry, rather ignorant about soundfonts, just curious if this is a MIDI or MOD-type arrangement.

My roommate's the musician and after checking out the samples, I'm thinking he'll be all over this.

A MIDI-type arrangement. I made it in Cakewalk. Actually the bass sounds in the demos are pretty dry. I have a little EQ and reverb, but apart from that not much else. The samples don't need effects to hide behind. ;D

I'm still lost on how to use these. lol. Oh well, some day I'll learn.

Is there a way to use it with Adobe Audition via plugin?

Can you do MIDI in Adobe Audition? If so, there may be a way. If you can use VSTi or DXi (DirectX instruments) you can definitely use soundfonts.

If you are uncertain about how to play soundfonts, you might want to look into the Manytone version which is the same price, but comes with a ton of great presets. The Manytone format will work in Wusikstation, Manystation (of course), VOX'd, TSW, and EVE One. Or, if you have Awave, you could convert the Soundfont or Manystation version into practically any format.

In the future, I believe there will be a discounted price for Manystation if you order it along with the Ultimate Bass Kit.

Fruity Loops has soundfont support, but it's not free.
