One category movies I really enjoy are movies that parodies other movies.
So, I'd like to know if there are more good parody movies then those I know of.
Examples I've really enjoyed (except The Ice Pirates, bought that one today, still have to watch):

Fatal Instinct
parodies:
  • Double Indemnity,
  • Basic Instinct,
  • Fatal Attraction.

Galaxy Quest
parodies:
  • Star Trek (tv serie) and related programs.

Traumshiff Surprise
parodies:
  • Star Trek,
  • Star Wars (particularly The Phantom Menace),
  • The Fifth Element,
  • Back to the Future,
  • The Time Machine,
  • Independence Day,
  • A Knight's Tale,
  • Men in Black,
  • Minority Report,
  • High Noon,
  • The Matrix,
  • E.T.  the Extra-Terrestrial,
  • Twelve Monkeys.

The Ice Pirates
parodies:
  • Star Wars,
  • Dune.
Covers:

Snake

I highly recommend:

Great movie! Classic ;D
Grim: "You're making me want to quit smoking... stop it!;)"
miguel: "I second Grim, stop this nonsense! I love my cigarettes!"

WHAM

Wrongthinker and anticitizen one. Utterly untrustworthy. Pending removal to memory hole.

Great:

Mony Python and the Holy Grail
Young Frankenstein
a few of the Police Squad episodes
first 2 Naked Gun films
The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes' smarter brother
Dracula: Dead and Loving It
Flash Gordon (1980)
Shaolin Soccer
Chinese Odyssey 2002
Maverick (the original series with James Garner in the lead)

Good:

Kung-Fu Hustle
Blazing Saddles
Airplane!

Liked it when I saw it at age 12:

Spy Hard

It's not considered one of the best, but I love National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon, takes the mick out of Lethal Weapon and a bunch of other action movies. Lots of cameos, Charlie Sheen, Bruce Willis... and if you don't laugh to at least one joke, you're a bit of a humorless bastard :P Another parody but non parody is Last Action Hero. Kind of up to you how far a parody you see it, I guess :) I see it as a genre parody rather than a parody of certain films.

Stupot

'Shaun of the Dead'.  I loved that when it first came out... I can't stand Simon Pegg anymore though.

Phemar

I second all the movies suggested as well. (Except the ones I haven't seen.)

Though whatever you do, stay the hell away from any "(Movie) movie", unless it's one of the Scary Movies which were funny when I was younger. Not sure if they're still funny though haha.

tzachs

I second spaceballs, airplane, hotshots and naked gun.
And add:

Top Secret!
Robin Hood: Men in tights
Austin Powers

In case anyone doesn't know it: Spaced, Simon Pegg's pre-Shaun of the Dead sitcom is one of the best British sitcoms around. It's not a spoof of one genre, like Police Squad, but it's full of parodies. This compilation starts with the beginning of the second series, taking off Goodfellas/Manhattan and a tiny bit of Blade Runner:

Spaced is my all time favourite Tv-Series. The amount of movie references is unbelievable. Always something new to discover.
If you like the Pegg/Frost combination you should definetely watch Shaun of the Dead which is a clever spoof of zombie movies and Hot Fuzz! which parodies buddy action movies

Atelier

Spaced is a transgressive masterpiece. However the Pegg/Frost combo is losing momentum. Their movie Paul doesn't come anywhere close on the lol-o-meter to SotD or Hot Fuzz.

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

Stupot

Yeah I loved Spaced.  It was the best thing coming out of Britain at the time.
But I think Pegg got a bit too big for his boots after America discovered him.   Just don't find him funny anymore.

Having said that though, the trailer for Paul looks alright.  Has anyone seen this yet?  And is it good?  It looks like a kind of parody of an American road trip movie, with a bit of light sci-fi thrown in.

I've seen paul on the sneak a few weeks ago so i didnt have any expectations. It was an ok movie I guess but you only caught a glimpse of the old spirit in very few scenes. The rest was quite standart amercan comedy that didnt hurt anyone.

GarageGothic

Guilty pleasure, I admit, but I have a soft spot for Kung Pow! - it's utterly retarded yet some scenes makes me almost choke from laughing. But my favorite spoof film is Top Secret! as also suggested by tzachs.

stepurhan

Without a clue is arguably a spoof of Sherlock Holmes, except Watson is the real brains and Holmes is a drunken idiot he hired to front for him.

Oh, stephurhan, you just made me remember Murder by Death. I love that movie!

So many great actors: Peter Sellers, David Niven, Alec Guinnes, Peter Falk, and great dialog by Neil Simon.

Edit: And even though it's not a parody (strictly speaking), I'll use any opportunity to pimp the hilarity that is Clue, even just for the sake of Tim Curry's amazing performance (the whole thing is up on youtube - not the best image quality though, but I'm still gonna rewatch it now :))

Clue is a pleasure to watch as well.
