Someone has probably already been there and registered a fake name with BugMeNot. It will give you the login and fake password. It takes less time to do than it takes to read this paragraph. Try it. I bet you bookmark it!

Yeah, I found that website a few months ago and it's pretty cool. Not all their accounts work, but you'll be suprised.

Yea, so far pretty much most of the accounts don't work (out-dated? maybe?) But some do..it's pretty cool though.Ã,Â Good find Rui

It's upto people to add accounts iirc.

Also, WIth the amount of different IPs accessing the account it probably gets deleted pretty quickly

Yeah BugMeNot is great. I've been using it for a while ever since I found the firefox plugin: http://roachfiend.com/archives/2005/02/07/bugmenot/ I just right click on the username/password field and if there is a fake acocunt it fill it in automatically. Very handy.

Again from Al Lowe's:

CyberJokester Chris Bardon says that if you liked BugMeNot, you should try www.pookmail.com. It creates an email address that lasts for 24 hours, letting you use sites for which BugMeNot doesn't have a listing. It's for those sites that make you register and then send you a confirmation email which you must then verify and return. I tried it over the weekend and it worked perfectly. I created an email address @pookmail.com that's already been deleted. Cool!

Heh, yeah. Funny, I just got that in today's cyberjoke...

Remember way back yesterday? When I told you about PookMail? Well, CyberJokester Nikhil Goel topped me today with an even better site: www.mailinator.com. There's complete info on their site, but here's the basics: a site asks for your email address to confirm your existence (or to sell to every spammer on Earth--you never know); you make up any email address that ends with @mailinator.com. Then you go to mailinator's site and your email will be waiting. 24 hours later, the account is deleted. It's like PookMail without the extra roundtrip!

I had no idea BugMeNot had spawned a entire sub-class of web sites! Here are two more.

Gary Kirk recommends www.dodgeit.com. No need to go to their web site first. When a site asks you for your email address to verify your new account, just enter any phony user name at dodgeit.com (e.g., bobdole@dodgeit.com). Then go there to retrieve your mail.

Justin Ache likes www.spamgourmet.com. It's more flexible. You still make up a phony email address on the spot, but you can also decide how many emails you want from someone. This is handy for job searches or any time you want to know who you gave the email address to (e.g., bob.4.dole@spamgourmet.com). That 4 means you would receive a maximum of 4 emails at that address while the "bob" tells you who you gave that address to.

Now for a practical test. Dan Engberg recommended this video spoof of Apple's iPod called the "iPod Flea" on the NY Times web site. The Times requires registration, but just consider that an excuse for you to try this week's email spoofing sites! Note: this is a long URL so you might have to copy and paste it together in your address bar.
