how can i make this better?

i'd esp like help on making the fist and improving the shading

by the way, i'm not doing a fallout adventure, this is just practice

Oh my god are you making a Fallout game?
That would be interesting, but yeah, he looks pretty good

He shoulders should be even i think but it maybe the way I'm looking at it or imagining the way he's standing.

It's a good sprite, very traditional and still unique enough to stand out. The only thing that I'd change is the bandage on the left arm; but apart from that, I'd not even hesitate to download and play a game with such a charming low-res art.

As for the fist (left fist), you would see his thumb, so simply add a small shadow there, and you'll be okay.

I kept the cartoony proportions, moved things a bit, tried to add volume shading and reduced the color count from 20 to 16.

Khris:  I'm not a big fan of the scrunched up looking face, but the shading on the body looks absolutely great.
If that could be animated smoothly, it would be one hell of a game sprite.

Thanks, there's a few other things I'm not particularly fond of (thin left arm, awkwardly angled fist, stance).
It was done pretty quick, with emphasis on the shading; I'll wait for BoG and then maybe revamp it a bit.

thanks for the replies everyone, i've changed it based on some of your ideas KhrisMUC. i'm still not happy with some parts but i'm really sick of it now so i think i'm gonna start on another one

I'd say the highlights of his face and hands look a little too bright... they kind of stand out with the darker colours elsewhere.

But otherwise this guy looks great.
