Like I just got done telling you, I love it. I love those faces and the blend of the paint, the "wall" in the background, everything kicks. It slaps the cats' ass, Colossal man ;)

What I told Eric was my theory on what it means. At first it was the obvious. He's diving. But I got looking at it and of course there's got to be a deeper meaning (heh, ask Eric). I got thinking and I think it shows somebody's conflick with life. Whether their about to commit a crime or commit suicide. It looks as if he's just about to make his decision, whether to plunge and cross that line or not...
That's the feeling I got.

Anyway, good luck with the rest of yo art, dawg :P

Pessi

AWESOME!!! That is rockin'! I like the way he effortlessly reaches the other side. Very thought-provoking.

There's not really much to comment on. I mean, when image is artistic, there's nothing to criticize it when it works. Breaking the rules is alright as long as it adds to the impression.

Anyway, I think the only thing that caught my attention in a way was the color difference between the person and the background. There aren't many of the same colors in them so they look a bit detached from each other. But then again, it's a smart warm/cold contrast so... it's up to the viewer whether it looks detached or not.

The anatomy is great. I sense there's a bit of off-perspective on the ribs but it doesn't bother me at all. I don't know if the arm is pretty long or if it's just because you can't see the whole body, but then again, that doesn't bother me either. Just thought I'd point them out.

All I can say is that you've done really great work! The skin tones are spot on and the purple on the background works really well.

Keep it up, man!!!

coolness. i know this isnt very usefull, but i have nothing more to say. i wish my cpu painting skills were that advanced. :)

Great illustration! Love the colors, composition and the whole "feel" of pic. Perfect!
As Pessi already mentioned, colors do separate character from the whole setting a bit... but then again, contrast might be exactly what you were after.
Once again freakingtastic!

I m not very familiar with body anatomy so these modifications might be completely wrong. At least it s a try:

Believe it s fairly selfexplanatory. Very impressive rendering btw.

Hi Eric,

The idea is very good. One that could give birth to much interpretation. Artistically, it's beautiful.

Just the hair...something about the hair...it isn't flowing.
It looks... stuck.

But I speak only with eyes. It's a good job.

heyo

thanks all

as far as colours go, this is the first time i've done something like this so i was really just playing it by ear, er... eye.

the technique i use feels so simple that i feel like i'm cheating by using it...

loom:

that anatomy edit looks about right. that was the biggest problem i had, since i was really just messing aroun when i started i didn't expect it to get into a real painting, so half way through there was major "crap! i have no idea what the back looks like from this angle or positioning!"

wanderlady: the hair changed so many times during the painting's life. it's supposed to be like this kinda hair but i guess it went a little overboard and metallic.

here's what it used to look like... you wanna talk about unflowing plastic you should seen this crap painted!

i'm not going to edit it tho cause i think it's better just to move on than spend an eternity on one painting.

thank you all for the comments

I basically agree with all the others, it is awesome and really sets a mood. One criticism mind, the hair looks like plastic.
