Hello,
Im realy new at this, Im lookg for some tutorial, which teaches "how to make monkey island 1 and 2 graphic styles".
I`ve been searching between a lots of links where are hosted wepages with drawing tutorials.
But my problem, is that im looking the rustic kind of stetic that was used in monkey island 1 and 2.
Every single link that i find, teachs how to make cartoonish graphic style, with popart colors, well... that is not what i need.
I need a tutorial where teaches me, for example, how to do a pixelated Guybrush, or a "square smoothed" scumm bar. Please, if some one reads this topic, and knows where to find these kind of tutorial, PLEASE, stick a link, and i would be very pleased.
Thank you for your time.

Monkey Island 1 and 2 use different styles.

Monkey Island 1 used Dpaint iirc
while
Monkey Island 2 used scanned in oil paintings iirc

- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

perhaps he means the EGA version of monkey1...

the best way to get that pixelated look is working at smaller resolutions, 320x200 will look pretty pixelly, but if you work in 160x100 then pixel resize to 320x200, it'll be double pixelly.
i don't really think tutorials can teach you how to do copy a certain style, the best thing to do is get screenshots from the games with the kind of style you want and study them, perhaps even try to copy them or make something similar, that way you'll get to learn the best way to do that style that suits you, if that makes sense...

saveing as a gif in mspaint pixelizes any pic!

Use really small size like 320x240

haha if you pixelate your picture with mspaint by saving as gif, it will be noisy and distorted not pixelated...

for example the transparent areas of your sprite will pixelate too and the pixelation (<- is this correct? ^^ ) will not be good looking because it will for example pixelate red areas with green noise etc.

summarized: it will look crappy.

use paint shop or photoshop pixelate effects or half-size and double size them

First of all, thank you all for answering.
I was reffearing to vga monkey island, and yes, i supposed there was a difference between monkey 1 and monkey 2.
Well, now i must learn this digital art slang: Dpaint iirc
and old paintings iirc.

I will use this advice: look for DPaint tutorials
Thank you all for answering so fast.

Have a nice day.
Lestat.

Oil paintings

Yes well.. Im not an english speaker,,,,,, so... you reffear to oil painting scanning as.... "go to paris, steal the mona lisa, scan it,,, photoshop it, and WALLA! "Monkey island 3, the lost story" , (yeah, Guybrush Threepwood died in Mi2, the rest is just imitation.) + "loom 2: family becomes a goose stew." ????????????????
So lucas arts, painted canvas, and then... SCANNED THEM?????? whoa.... they are good!, any way, those scanned canvas used to pixelate... by the way... what is IIRC?, if some one can help me,,, i`ll be pleased, other wise, i will be still reading tutorials.
Thnx

If you scan a piece of coloured art at a high resoloution, and resize it to, say, 320x200, then you'll get this 'pixelated look'. Bear in mind that Monkey Island had a team of proffessional artists though.

Here's a sample of concept art for MI2. I don't know if it was actually this canvas that was scanned, but it could have been.

By the way, I've just been to http://www.lucasarts.com and I can't find ANY mention of MI 1 or 2.

The new crew of people running the show over there don't even know what LucasArts stands for metaphorically, they can't remember what MI 1 and 2 are... along with the others.
