I like your art a lot! But may I suggest changing the color of light coming from the windows to yellow or similar. And add a small flag to the top of couple of towers and other small detail. Then you'd be set.

I guess there's only so many ways to draw a castle on a hilltop in the dark.

the problem is the grass between the gate and the hills (by now its a bad gradient)

Why dont you use smooth gradient from the dark to shiny green? Maybe that is the whole secret...
