In Dip

Plot
You're a university student who, as often happens, has to go study at the university library. Unfortunately, this time something will get in your way...

Some notes
Hello everybody!
This is a "remake" of the first in a series of small, somewhat comic (or at least trying to be) games I made for my friends back in university, over 20 years ago. I've tried to clean up the parts that wouldn't make sense outside of our group of friends, and I've also tried to make the graphics not too repulsive, but as you can see my skills leave a bit to be desired.
In the coming months I plan to slowly restore the other games as well. It will take several months because the graphics part takes me a really, really long time. But whatever.

All graphics are mine (except for one adapted background).
The music comes from the website: incompetech.com
The few sound effects are from: freesound.org

The game takes up about 60 MB (zipped) or 74 MB (unzipped) because of the music.

The language can be vulgar and childish at times. Be prepared. Sorry for that.

Languages
Italian and English.
The default language is Italian, but it should be set to start in English (if I didn't mess something up...)

Regarding the translation
I did it myself, double-checked it and gave it to some friends to review, but I'm sure there are still a ton of mistakes. I apologize in advance and hope it's still understandable.

And... I think that's all.
Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to try this!

Hi, I'm playing your game and I am enjoying it a lot. Maybe it's because I'm Italian and I also attended university.

It's very funny and I like the lewd speech, the nicknames and characters; it makes me laugh a lot.

Despite of that, I think you should improve something; I know that using the 6 verbs means a lot of scripting but you should fulfil the functions for unhandled events.

For example: There are are a couple of doors in which I can't enter but the player doesn't say anything about it, you should let him say that the door is closed or that you can't get in for the moment.

Also, sometimes the behaviour when I right click on an object in the inventory is different from when I press the "use" button. This might cause a bit of confusion and insecurity(I have to try both right click and "use" button to see if something works)

Sometimes the character's walking doesn't point directly yo the hotspots but that is secondary.

Some phrases are in English only and that's weird if the game is supposed to be originally  in Italian.
Anyway, when I was making my game I didn't always find all the phrases in translation file and sometimes I had to translate manually, using the statement "if"(if the language is Italian, say it in Italian, otherwise in English).

Actually I'm stuck and considering all these little errors I'm not sure if I'm missing something or if the game has some glitches.
You can consider to insert a walk-trough in the archive of the game or open a hint and tips thread.

I like it and I like the references to the old fashioned games like Monkey Island, I wish I can play more of these games and I can offer my help (if there's not much work to do) to fix the script.

Hey Giacomo, thank you so much for playing and for your feedback! I'll try to answer point by point.

So, there are 5 doors in total, but I've noticed now that there are some somewhat ambiguous parts. For example, the auditorium is something that you could think of entering, but I've only treated it as a hotspot; of the 5 doors, 3 are made so that you can only enter by "walking to" them, the other 2 only return the message "locked" when you press "use". Or at least it should be like this. I'll check the door interactions and unhandled events again, thanks!

Yes, this is intentional (if I've got this right), it's integrated into the Tumbleweed template and is intended to be like the old Lucas adventures where the right button was associated with a default action that changes depending on the hotspot; the right click always triggers the default action and not always "use" (the default action is highlighted when the mouse is over the hotspot).

Whoops, unfortunately I'm aware of this... It's due to the fact that I haven't mastered the semi-blocking functions of the Tumbleweed template yet. Mea culpa, I had thought to eliminate the problem with some waypoints but then I thought it wasn't worth the effort... I will definitely correct it in my next game! But I think for now I'll switch to a simpler two-button interface without semi-blocking functions, just to speed things up.

Hmm... which phrases? Some are intentional, but I've certainly missed some. Tomorrow I'll try to review all the text. Thanks!

Gosh, I hope I've removed all the glitches, but you never know! However, great idea, I'll insert a txt file with a walkthrough as soon as I can.

Thanks a lot again for everything!

EDIT
Uploaded a new zip with some minor changes (to begin with) and the walkthrough
