My "hat's off" to all the participants who managed to complete and submit their projects on time. And a big congrats to the well-deserved winners!

I thought all of the games had some interesting features about them, though some games seemed they had more time, effort and "polish" put into it than others. That being said, I know from personal experience that it's a bit hard to made a decent and presentable project within a tight deadline, so even if a game wasn't like "Wow, Great, Fantastic!" type of quality, my respect still goes out to all who participate and meet the deadlines in such events.Ã,  Anyways, it's a good learning experience for the participants, and fun to be had by all by enjoying some new games to play.Ã,  ;D

I think my favorite two was "Tomb of the Moon" (wow, great puzzles, music and eye-catching graphics.. sort of felt like playing a "cartoony Indiana Jones" type of game), and "Heart of Abraxas" (I loved the atmosphere and gloomy feel of the game, the occasional "creepy sound effects" put a chill up the spine, and the panoramic effect was great!Ã,  The puzzles needed more polish though, but still, a good effort. I already guessed that Esper had made this game even before the creator's names were announced, as playing his other game before had a somewhat similar "feel" to it. ;)

Most of the other games still showed a lot of promise and potential, and I think if more time, effort and polish was put into these projects, that each game could be very entertaining and fun to play indeed. Keep up the good work guys.Ã,  Ã, I look forwards to more future "OROW" events, and hopefully next one I'll have the time to more commit to completeing a project within the deadline.
Conan: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!"
Mongol General: "That is good."

Yes, I scripted the whole thing myself.  I think that if I had used someone else's work I would have posted it in the readme or game (like anyone reasonable does), so I think the logical conclusion would've been that I did do the work, but whatever ;).  Glad some people liked it anyway, since I even recorded most of the samples myself ;o.  ROCK N' ROLL!

A collective thanks from me and Pablo to all who voted. I did not enter this competition to win, but just for the sake of entering. And I had a good time making the game. Glad so many liked it. Without Pablo's graphics it probably wouldn't have been worth anything. :)

We shall be giving autographs in my closet tomorrow at noon GMT, in case anybody can find my closet.

And on my own behalf, I'm glad to see so many entires turning up, even it was less than last time. There were many games of different styles, and I enjoyed playing them all. A few locked-in-somewhere-and-must-get-out style - which seems to be the most usual one room theme - gained followers, but they all were different in that type. Many great tricks used this round. A couple of the games could have used a bit more polishing, but still I managed to finish every game, so all is well.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

When I created Bad Luck, I didn't realize how unoriginal the story was until I was about 75% done.Ã,  But since I didn't have the time to restart (and because it was my very first completed game), I had to keep it the way it was.

Anyways, congrats to Ishmael and Pablo, I really enjoyed Tomb of the moon.Ã, Ã,  ;)Ã,  Ã,
Cool stuff I found out: Men are four times more likely to be struck by lightning than women.  Wow, really? [dirty joke] Maybe this has to do with the fact that us men have "lightning rods"? [/dirty joke]

Great job, everybody. Congrats to the winners, and special gratz to Tomb of the Moon. I knew I wasn't going to win, but I didn't think anyone would actually like "Heart of Abraxas" as much as it seems a few of you did. I know I simply cannot make good animations, and due to time constraints there were a couple bugs (the boy's face in the mirror when the room was dark was only supposed to appear when it was in "the corner of your eye," and then only play through once every 20 or so seconds, for example)... I was just wondering: for those of you who played and enjoyed it, would any of you be willing to help me "polish it up" a bit?

I liked it :) You really can create athmosphere, in my opinion.

my favorite game in the compo was 24 hours. i liked it because the game forced you to not be idle.

The reason i didn't vote for brooklyn on scripting was because the enemies keep running away and the keys are unresponsive, the tomb game had good puzzle scripting. And the collision detection were a bit subtle from the enemy side, it's so darn hard  ;D

It's one thing scripting a platformer, but another thing doing it good  ;D

No offence ProgZ, your graphics still rock.

CodeJunkie

Congrats to Pablo and Ishmael, and everyone else that entered.  OROW games always seems to be new and fresh, I enjoyed playing all of them.

I voted highly for Brooklyn for most categories, I thought the scripting was fine.  Had a few problems with keys not being very reactive, but in general is was great, the only thing that held me back was Windows StickyKeys on shift, but that's probably not ProgZ's fault :P

Here are my thoughts:

24 hours:
Very original, nice graphics, simple plot.Ã,  I liked the idea of the three meters,Ã,  I once thought of doing something like that with one of my old (unfinished) games.Ã,  The puzzles were quite easy, and really fun.Ã,  Great game, it's one of my favorites in this competition.

Blackmail in Brooklyn:
Great art, very original for a game made with AGS.Ã,  I really enjoyed Blackmail in Brooklyn, too bad it was kinda slow on my pc.Ã,  In the end, it was fun, sometimes challenging, this game shows you the different things you can do with AGS.

Heart of Abraxas:
I like the style of the game, it had a great atmosphere. The art, the color and the music had a great impact with the mood, which made this game kinda scary at times.Ã,  The story and ending were great.Ã,  Really nice game.

Illusions 1:Ã,
This game wasn't that special.Ã,  It was kinda hard to interact with the surroundings of the game(it was hard to find the hotspots).Ã,  As I played, I saw a few bugs (for example, the quit button on the title screen didn't work).Ã,  To me, the ending didn't seem to make any sense. Overall, this could have been better.

Locked:Ã,
Nothing much to say about this game.Ã,  It was very funny at times,Ã,  the art was okay.Ã,  It's a short game, but I liked it very much.

Science!:Ã,  Ã,
The graphics were nice and it had a simple plot.Ã,  Again, I don't have much to say,Ã,  it was very funny, the ending was really original.Ã,  Overall,Ã,  I loved this game, even though it wasn't exactly in one room.Ã,  Ã,

Spacemaze:
It wasn't too bad.Ã,  It was a little too easy,Ã,  but at least it was something.

Tomb of the Moon:Ã,
Very nice game. The graphics were great, the story was original, the puzzles were well made and they weren't too hard. I can clearly see why this game won!Ã,
Ishmael and Pablo did a great job.

BTW: The games are going to be hosted for how long?

Well done to everyone!  I really enjoyed playing them and I wish I could have taken part.  I was really happy to see so many different uses of the AGS engine.

My personal favorite of the bunch was probably 24 Hours.  It wasn't the best in any individual category (For me: Graphics=Brooklyn, Writing=Science!, Scripting=Brooklyn, Puzzles=TotM, Music=Brooklyn), but it did them all well.  Consequently, I had the best all-around gaming experience with 24 Hours.

Well done, AJA!

Shane 'ProgZmax' Stevens

The unresponsiveness was due to me handling everything with custom functions and rawdrawing everything.  I didn't have time to tweak all the delays so they were left at default.  As for the enemies running I made separate ai categories (coward, dumb, average, smart) and had it randomly assign them to the enemies.  That is why they vary in behavior (which I thought was a good thing, personally).

I was about to do the same thing in the AGS Games database,  but with a credited version of the game.
