Rules:
A sprite is supplied, with a theme.
Participants must use the given sprite for their animation
Each competition will last 11 days
The starter of each competition will decide on the winner.
The winner, who will decide on the next competition's theme, must also supply a sprite.

Theme: Beam me up Scotty

This is Bob.  He is a test dummy to a new untested teleporting device.
Bob is the first to enter a new feat of human technology.  BUT what he doesn't know is that something IS going to go wrong.
Whether he is mutated into half-human-half-fly,
Or his clothing gets teleported but he is left there,
Or maybe something explodes killing Bob.
It doesn't matter.  I want you to make up the disaster or mistake that happens during Bob's first teleport.  You'll get more points for creativity.

This is the teleporter scene in which Bob first tests the device.
You can also make a cut scene (if you choose to) where Bob teleported to, if the disaster is better shown on the other end of the teleport.  Perhaps his legs are stuck in a road while the rest of his body is above it (like in Space Quest 6).

EDIT: I forgot to mention, no color restrictions.  And if you don't like Bob, you can alter him (just as long as he somewhat looks like Bob still - since I did such a horrible job on his anatomy. it was midnight when I drew him)

The competition ends on May 19 (unless someone asks for an extension).

Gold to Lionmonkey
Silver to Stajp
Bronze to TwinMoon

GET WORKING! :P

LOL LGM!

First off DarkMaster, welcome to the forums.  Now for your competition post, a quick definition of the word 'animation' would be: general activity and motion.  There must be more than one frame to even qualify as an animation.

If you're interested in trying out your animating skills, I recommend downloading the trial version of Pro Motion (http://www.cosmigo.com/promotion/).  If you have next to little or no artistic skills (as I've noticed from your posts), I would probably start off small.  I don't recommend these competitions for quite some time, get yourself comfortable with animating and drawing first.

If you have any questions regarding this competition, save them for PM's (Private messages.  Please don't flood this competition asking for help etc).  As for learning animating or artistic tips, there are hundreds of tutorials floating around the internet.  Google can be your best friend.

Good luck.

DarkMaster, you have saved this image as a .png. Unless I'm considerable more ignorant than I thought (hard to do but likely  :=), the .png format does not support animation.

Saving the file as a .gif file should enable you to save the animation properly so that we can all see it in motion. This does not mean that converting this image to a .png will suddenly make it animate - if your only version of this animation is this .png file, and you have no others saved, you will have to redo the animation, unfortunately.

Vote to support the MNG format damn it! := The animated version of PNGs which if it was more widely supported would surpass GIF as the preferred animated image file type...IMO. Because in my personal experience PNG often yields both smaller file size and higher quality...but that's not really the point of a comp thread I guess.

Bandwith things will fix it. Can you extend it a little bit? or as long as you want to see my animation. If you think it's not for the best just nevermind the post.

Well, Bob is lucky today. The beams failed to beam him up.
Damn, unlucky today Bob.

I think it's a valid entry. The rules say disaster or mistake that happens on first teleport. Well, Bob stays alive that's the disaster..
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

Here's my entry! :)  My Bob doesn't move, because he's a real test dummy and lacks a central nervous system.

Play_Pretend

Okay, I couldn't resist...here's my second entry.  ;D

Poor Bob forgot that he was carrying a Church of the Latterday Saints pamphlet into the sterile teleportation area...science and religion fuse him into an uncanny horror!

Behold...Mor-Man!

9 whole days left. :P

LOL Strange Visitor, that new entry of yours was really funny.  At first I had no idea what happened to him until I read how he was carrying the pamphlet with him.  I couldn't stop laughing.  Both of your entries are very creative.

Oh and Dualnames, yes your animation qualifies as a 'teleportation disaster/mistake' (for some reason it's not loading right now, but the other day it was without problems).

Everyone, keep them coming. ;)

Teleportation always reminds me of Space Quest V.

EDIT: Uploaded fixed image. Sorry, I wast too lazy to click & drag all the frames one by one again. Anyway, now this is how it was meant to be.

Lionmonkey, your animation is running a bit too quick for me (I'm using IE).
Edit: It's fine now, :) and cool!!!
Working on a RON game!!!!!

I couldn't resist, and although Jeff Goldblum would suit this better, Bob will suffice:

I bring you: THE FLY!

i take offence to that being a so called Mor-Man myself...
People tell me that my personality is divided. I don't think so, but maybe it is...

OH NOES! A Mor-MAN!!!! *cue south park episode*

Play_Pretend

Heh...no offense meant...I make fun of all races, ethnicities and creeds equally, being or having been so many of them myself! :)  And my sister in law was a Mormon, she converted to Baptism to marry my brother, but she still gets excited whenever we drive past a Mormon church.  I always tell her there's probably a leader inside the church who suddenly turns sideways and sniffs the air sharply as she goes by, and yells, "One of our lost children is near!  ACTIVATE THE MORMONITE RAY!!!"  ;D

Twirlly

Bob was teleported but not that far, and there were some serious side effects, lol.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

TwinMoon

"Now, Bob, keep your arms and legs inside the beam at all times. Are you listening, Bob?"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah..."
