Screen size

I've got a problem with resolution. From an unknown reason I get most of my BG's too large in game testing and in fullscreen preview. (my res is 320 * 240) Can't see bottom parts. That's probably some fault in my computer settings and it's really annoying. Could someone give me advice what to do?

I am not entirely sure what you mean, but you could try playing in windowed mode (use the startup program) and see if that works. Or maybe your backgrounds are indeed larger than the screen resolution, in which case you should resize them. Or the problem may be that 320x240 is a rather exotic resolution and not all monitors support it (just like 960x720, or 24-bit color mode)

Newer monitors should have settings in the menu to help, or older ones would have a vertical size knob (maybe).
Play pen and paper D&D? Then try DM Genie - software for Dungeons and Dragons!

It's not about monitor settings. I don't know what's going on, but looking at it I think it only shows at one BG. It never occured before, acted out just today. If it's only my computer then it's OK because anyone else could play with no problems. But I don't know if it's only my computer  :-[ And I don't want to change res because it means starting all over again.

have you tried it in windowed mode?

My monitor dosn't support 300x200, but suports 320x240. If it's in 300x200 it goes all funny and misses the bottom and left hand side off. (strangley, SQ1 and so on work fine!)

Blade

Yes, I tried it windowed. Doesn't work. Something is wrong. But it's in one BG, at least for now. Hopefully I'll just have to remake one screen only. But I would like to know what went wrong.

If it's only one background, then most likely that background is in fact too large vertically. Have you tried copying it into notepad [Paint?] and reducing it?

Blade

Now it happens everytime I make a BG of the exact size. It's vertical size gets wider than it should be.

What program are you using to make them?
Could you upload a sample background for us? One that you KNOW dosn't work?

Blade

I'm using Paint and that never occured before.

Perhaps the reason "t[]s vertical size gets wider than it should be" is because the dimensions of the picture are 314X215. I don't know if AGS would stretch the picture to make it fit, but perhaps this is the case?

Radiant

Ah, there you are then.
AGS does pad backgrounds if they are too small. It does not crop them when they are too large.

And yes, I meant Paint in my earlier post :) unless you wanted ASCII graphics of course.

That's what I assumed was up, hence why I asked for a sample :)

I was right? Again, my senseless babbling never fails to amaze even me...
