After downloading the s.7 vs of AGS and completing a quick begin game options room, I wne to test and make sure everything was working, since I didn't use any of the new scripting. The full mode wouldn't display the graphics, but CTRL+Q seemed to work fine. Windowed mode showed everything. Neither allowed AGS to shut the program down properly, to which I used a quitgame(1); function call. Thanks for any help.

Which version are you using? 2.7 (as available on the main page), one of the 2.71 betas or the
new new 2.71, which was just finalised this week?
There were some problems with exiting the game in some of the 2.71 betas, but I think they've been fixed by the final release. It's also possible it's happening with 2.7 (SSH reported it with the AoK Tech Demo). So, the solution might be to upgrade
again if you're not already using the newest release.
QuoteThe full mode wouldn't display the graphics
What do you mean, exactly? (You don't see anything, everything is blue cups ...)
Again, I think there were some sprite corruption errors reported with some of the 2.71 betas, but they've since been resolved.
I think he meant something like a black screen when using fullscreen. In that case it may be possible that the game's been set to a resolution/refresh rate that your monitor does not support.
But then Muills, fix your typos! We can barely help if your post was like muttered by Ace whose mouth was stuffed full of pizza!
I fixed the problem, already.
Sorry about the bad grammar guys, I had written out a longer more in depth thread earlier, but I accidently closed the window, and was angry so I just did a short quick thread instead.

Care to tell us what's the problem?
No...actually I'm getting another error, so I might as well share that.
When exiting after testing, sometimes the program does not exit correctly. Sometimes it does. This sounds more like it's comming from my system rather than AGS, but I'm just trying to establish if it's a problem from others. I am using vs 2.7 (the one from the main page). This might be because I'm testing often, as I usually do, and my dad's a process running whore, which could be causing the program to stall, as it has to compete with 50 oddsome processes.
The problem before was that the monitor wasn't able to take in the resolution. I figured it was something along those lines, so when I got back on to the computer I changed the system's resolution, and it worked fine.

I'm still having problems when exiting the game. Sometimes it works flawlessly, othertimes the program just hangs around after I've quit and I have to stop the application through the task manager. If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be much appreciated.

I sometimes have had to shut down an AGS game with Task Manager as well, but again, I have to shut alot of things down with TM (like photoshop). I know why, because my system has little space, and not enough capacity to properly kill a programs functions and shut it down. Just a guess, but based on what you said, your computer doesn't have enough space to shut down the game sometimes (like when it's trying to do something else), and does fine othertimes (because you don't have much else going on).
Again, this is just a guess.

Are there some kind of, say, Virus scanner running in the background, Muills?
My dad has jam packed his computer with as many running processes as possible. And norton happens to be one of these things. I was just wondering if it was me or the engine. I probably won't have to worry about it when I come back home, though.

The Problem is it keeps saying its a joke and i downloaded everyone and im wondering why its not working can somebody plz tell me how to download the right program in detail plz. Thank You ;D
Ermm....The "Make My Game" feature is a joke. You have to make your game yourself (or with a group of people). You might want to look through the tutorials and glance over the manual...

Same question to contestant number two, please, Cilla.
And, Artist.. I hope that's an odd sense of humor and not just a family trait you're exhibiting there.
Yeah, program still isn't shutting down properly...so anyone have anything to add along those lines.

I've been developing a game for the past 3 weeks and have the same issue. Every 2nd or 3rd time I run my game it wont exit the program properly. To be more descriptive, it apears to for half a second quit out of the program but then a windowed version with no contents (just titlebar and borders) will pop back up and hang. End task works as a temporary solutin to the problem.
I am running WinXP SP2 with .net framework and McAffe Virus Protection.
I also have an Nvidia GPU and the beta drivers and my CPU is a 3.8 Pentium 4.
Lastly I am not running AGS from the C:\ drive.
Any help here would be hot!
Cheers mods and fellow AGSers'.
