Problem loading game editor

When I open the AGSedit file its not responding as it normally does.  Instead of opening up and asking what game file to load, the window just minimizes.  I can see a tab for it on my task bar but I can't open it into a window to access it.  Anybody have any ideas what the cause is?

AGS version, OS, current DirectX vesion and some computer specs might be usefull.. unless someone knows how to fix this right away...

OS WindowsXp
DirectX 8.1

What other kind of specs would help?

The first thing to do is to update DirectX... version 9b is the newest I think. Then try, and if it won't work, I think there's something wrong with your computer of OS itself..

Hmm...if the gameeditor was compatable with my version of DirectX before is there any reason for it not to be now?  It certainly could be a problem with the computer itself but still hoped somebody might be able to help.

The only possible solution I see is to tweak the regirstry. Open the registry editor (ex: Windows regedit.exe), locate the branch HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adventure Game Studio\AGS Editor and see what MainWinMaximize value is. If it's 0 try changing it to 1. Of course, you should be very careful with what you do in the registry as it may corrupt the system, just keep your eyes open on what you are changing there.
