Hi,

Ã,  Ã, sorry to bring this up again but i ask yesterday about Web Based Tutorials for beginners, i only got one reply (before the thread was locked) which pointed me to a thread that was two years old.
Needless to say most of the links were broken.

So does anybody have any current likns to a good Tutorial ?

95% Of the Links are on graphic design, but theres almost nothing on the Nuts and Bolts of getting things to work.

Please Please Help

How about the tutorials in the manual?

Ã,  Ã, There's a few good links to get you going. And of course the Help Manual that comes built in with AGS is great too, plus, using the search feature on the Forums here is terrific as well. Plus, if you're still stuck on something and you can't find anything about it on the forums, you'll find the community is usually very helpful here.

Best regards.

Are there any video tutorials for AGS?

I've looked around but haven't found a single one.

None of those actually worked lol

Anyway.

Why don't you just have a look at what you want to make and then search on the forums for the awnser. Or look inside the manual. Most tutorials are not helpfull untill you know the basics anyway.

I repeat my question:
Are there any video tuts for AGS?

I think it would be a real boost for the community, getting more people to start making their own first games.
It often can feel quite boring and heavy to start learning a new editor by having to  go thru a heap of text.
Let's face it, people are lazy.

I was just thinking this today. Perhaps we could have a competition to see who can produce the best video tutorial? AGS feels very inaccessible at first (though it actually isnt) and a video tutorial could introduce more people to it.

I'm not too fond of that video-tutorial idea. Well, in the end it's "the more help, the better", but there's a flaw in the logic here: those users that aren't willing or capable of reading a small text on how to import characters and get started aren't really the folk we can use around here (remember, AGS isn't for everybody - it's not a simple click'n'play game-creator and doesn't try to be one). Will those patienceless users ever start reading the manual?

Really well put.
If you can't turn a key, there's no point in learning how to drive :=

I hardly think that making an easier tutorial would cause an immigration of schmucks to the community.

Rather, I think that it would be helpful in attracting potential talents.
There are many editors and tools there to chose from for people looking to learn the art of game making.
Since they can pick and chose, they naturally look for the best and easiest editors, -so one that would provides some handy video tutorials would definetly have a better chance of gettin picked.

Well, there was that German TV show where they were demonstrating how to use AGS, and it crashed live on air ;)
