Make a myst-like game?

I want to make a point-and-click adventure like Myst.  can AGS do this, or is there a program out there more suitable for it?  Does anyone know?

Although there are maybe more suitable programs around it is definitely possible to make something similar to Myst with AGS unless you want it like in Myst 3:Exile, with that panoramic view feature.

Just hide the player character (see room options), draw hotspots and trigger various events when the player clicks on them.

Of course AGS can do Myst-like games, but there is an engine which is especially for that kind of adventure games and supports higher resolutions. It's also easier when it comes to Myst-like games. It's not free though. Anyway, here is the link: www.adventuremaker.com
