Can I develop a 2d side-scroller mmorpg with this game engine?

Hello, I am a complete beginner(but definitely a programmer) about game engines, at topic: "Can this game engine be used to develop a 2d side-scroller mmorpg?"
please, post some links to some tutorials for developing mmorpgs.

The first question that comes: why use AGS for that?

To add to Chicky's short answer: I *think* it may be possible, but you will have to write so much additional code, both as plugins and script modules, that there will be nothing left of AGS under it. In other words: it is easier to do if you write it from scratch, without using AGS.
