Strange visual leftwards shift in all games

No matter what game I attempt to run, no matter the resolution, AGS displays the game as if it was packed into the left side of the screen.  There is a thick black column on the right side of the screen, no matter what I do.  I get used to it over time, but it remains quite annoying.  Any ideas?

I'm running AGS version 2.62 on Windows XP Pro (the problem occured in Home before I upgraded, as well, and for that matter in both SP1 and 2).

I'm sorry if this isn't the right forum to post this in, I gather from the page upon page of material I had to read to get this far that you frown upon such mistakes, though I also find it a bit strange that there is no forum specifically for problems with AGS itself.  Sorry for any inconvenience.
