What would you like to see in a police-themed game?

That's certainly not what I had in mind when I read "abuse of power", I was thinking more about stealing, falsifying or planting evidences, closing the eyes on some criminal activities, opportunistic theft, taking bribes... that kind of stuff. You'd also have to fool the internal affairs the whole time if you wanted to reach the end of the game.

Also, don't try to cram all your ideas in the same game. With the ideas posted here, you'd be able to create several police themed games, each using different ideas and mechanics.

I would love to see some easter eggs to older police video games like Police Quest and Blue Force. That would be fantastic.

Oh, I just downloaded The Energizer, tzachs...seems interesting

My personal favorite police show is NYPD Blue. Especially the first 3 seasons. The reason I like it so much is because the characters are very realistic and developed. The show goes further than just presenting case after case. There are relationships, corruption, alcohol abuse, all sorts of personal issues, you name it. Very good show.

Just so long as the PC is a nice guy, and not in the sense that Manny Calavera is one.
I have trouble playing a character who thinks little of pinching something for his own ends, which is the main reason why I'm no good at adventure games.

For maximum originality you must also have a mastermind serial killer leaving cryptic clues to taunt the detective!

Kidding aside, gracefan, I think Pleurghburg: Dark Ages would be right up your alley.
