Today, in the mail, I put an end to my 11 year battle to obtain one of my last desired LucasArts rarities...

Why, if it isn't the Full Throttle Bandana. In original packaging! I'll open the packaging when I get it framed.

Although I will buy downloadable games, such as the new Sam and Max games and Bone, there really is just something to holding the game on hard copy. And then there are the feelies. If I were to ever release a game, I would most certainly pony up the money to procure some good feelies to throw in the box. Even the real newspaper that LucasArts used to put out, The Adventurer, was real nice; but when they "upgraded" to a glossy small booklet, it took some of the charm away. It must have been more expensive to produce, but the newspaper had charm. (It's crazy to see that games like Monkey Island were sold in these newspapers for like 60-70 dollars! And we complain about next-gen gaming going up to $60. It's already been here, somewhat.)

Anyone have their favorite feelies; or on a quest to get theirs? Perhaps my favorites are the Mix-N-Mojo wheels of Monkey Island 1 and 2.

By the way, if you are wondering what the last things on my LucasList are:
Maniac Mansion 1 cork board
the Sam and Max Floaty pen, and of course,
the Day of the Tentacle Tri-Box.
(why, oh why didn't I buy this when I was 14 when it was right there on the store shelf of Babbages!?)

So whenever I start up my own games buisness in a real office building, I'll have my office lined with these goodies, in my fire-proof vault of course. And it won't be an easy adventure puzzle to get it open. I'd make the would-be thief work for the treasure. (Hint, it involves a newspaper, and a key... ;) )
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

The Wishbringer stone... For some reason I want it. I love things included in games so hard. Even down to metal weapons in Clue.

I have everything I want really, the Zak paper, the diary from Indy, all the lucas arts stuff... Just not the Wishbringer stone.

Wow. That bandanna is seriously badass. I am truly in awe!

I discovered FT 9 years ago and didn't even get to play it til late last year (growing up a Mac user had some disadvantages and so did being 9, 10 years old and not being able to buy what I want.) But I was obsessed with the idea for years and wondered when I'd ever get to play it.

And now that I'm a PC user who has [or likes to think I have] some disposable income, still, I'm pretty poor and like to download what I can. But I get what you mean about the "feelies", there ARE just certain nostalgic things you can't get with just downloading the PDF's of the manuals and whatnot,

My parents got me the boxed version of Willy Beamish (am I the only one who misses Mac System 7 and 3.5" Mac floppies? *sigh*) for my 8th birthday. I'm 21 and still have the Willy, Leona, and Horny stickers hanging up by my computer! Ã, :D I never removed them, they're still in their original backing and everything! It's childhood and old school nostalgia I just can't get rid of.

I agree on the game pricing issue to an extent...granted, in the early 90's when VGA point n clicks were a huge deal and then the advent of SoundBlaster and making game characters talk became a huge deal-- keep in mind, it was the apex of gaming technology then! Today...people are mostly paying for the hack-n-slash/shoot em up value and how much extensive gameplay is achieved from that. All 3D and gore...is it just me, or does 3D start to look ugly after a while? It makes me miss the golden age of adventure gaming of yesteryear even more.

But yeah. The Willy Beamish stickers are probably one of the few feelies I still have left from when I moved out of my folks' place...I know that my Mix N Mojo wheels are probably still laying around in my old room somewhere. If there other "feelies" I'd ever want...hmm. I'm sure there's a few but it's been a long day; my brain shut off about half an hour ago.

Good luck to you with getting officespace and starting a gaming empire: And I bet if that thief ever breaks in the vault after solving five different puzzles including sticking a golf-ball retriever with a severed hand attached into the window, all he/she will get is "I Broke Into Scumbuddy's Office And I All I Got Was This Stupid T-Shirt." :D
If you want to know the Bible's contents, just watch Lord of the Rings or listen to the last 8 Blind Guardian albums. It's pretty much the same thing.

The wishbringer stone is a plasticky piece of junk. No, you can't have it :=

I went to a talk by Steve Meretzky a few years ago at GDC, which was about added value in packaging. He went into a lot of detail about just how cheap the Infocom feelies were. I think the most expensive thing in the HHGTTG box was the invisible space fleet, because it required a little plastic bag, colour printed card card, cut, fold and (gasp) a staple! It was 7 cents a box. Accounting complained because the staple added 2 cents. It was a great talk! (Actual costs may have been slightly different, but they were in that ballpark. My memory fails me.)

I don't have any adventure game "feelies" as you call them, but I have kept this boxset for Final Fantasy VIII:

(Conveniently already uploaded to photobucket)

I got this Sam and Max poster after visiting Tell Tale Games in October.

Yes, but it GLOWS in the dark!

I think I could still get togehter some feelies from my old Ultima games. Heavens, I loved the time when you bought a game and carried home that promising BOX, where there was a nice manual and some goodies. My Lemmings 2 had a small keychain in it; how cute is that?!
