Hi everyone,

I love making adventure games, but I am stuck with a simple question. Which program is easier to use? I love AGS but the exe file had problems with a projector at my uni. On the other hand the visionaire studio had problems with my graphics card. This year I might create a small adventure game as my final project but first I need to ask for your help. Which program is better or more useful?

Plot and the main character sprites are ready. Please help.

You'll probably want to figure out a solution for that. Once solved, it will no longer be a problem.

I don't know how AGS deals with dual-monitor setups, but if you set the projector to mirror the main screen, and the resolution is reasonable, there is no reason why an AGS game should have a problem with a projector.

For Visionaire, you should ask them for help.

They both let you make adventure games, so it's not really meaningful to say one is "more useful" than the other. Visionaire is more targeted at high-resolution games, so if that's what you're doing you might be better off with that. On the other hand it costs money, while AGS is free. Apart from that, it's a matter of specific features as well as personal taste. Unless you have very particular requirements, they'll probably both suit your needs.

Like Snarky said, Visionaire is targeted more towards high-resolution games.
So if you're making a game with modern 2D graphics, then definitely go with Visionaire. If you're planning to use pixel art though, I suppose AGS could be a better choice.

You've used them both, so you must have some sort of idea of which one you prefer. So just choose the one you like more.

Personally I'd use AGS, but then again this is the AGS forum, so there is bound to be some bias in my opinion there. (laugh)

Just remember that neither will be easier to use. Every game creation utility has its own pros and cons. Your best bet is usually to just pick one and stick with it, and try and overcome any difficulties you encounter rather than switch to something else. But neither AGS nor Visionaire are that difficult to learn, especially if you have prior programming experience. Just go through a few tutorials and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the advise. AGS seems to have more tutorials it seems. But I want to create a higher resolution game. I am not that good with pixel art. It will be a tough choice it seems.
