It seems appropriate given that many of the games discussed and even listed here will not run without DOS or some emulator for there to be a forum here with appropriate information.

I downloaded DOSBox to run on Win2k and have yet to have any success with it.

But of all the computing quirks I have to study, I'm not going to invest much time trawling the net for the arbitrary datum that makes it go
-- or indeed, for the question I would need to ask of those who already know
-- or, examining all of those forums, rules, and subtexts before I am even permitted to ask.

The information could be as accessible from here as the games that require it (as revealed after downloading), if anyone were inclined to make it so.

Where have you been? Most AGS games have a Windows Version that runs with DirectX..

You'd only need a DOSbox thing for completely outdated games that were never updated to Windows.

But at least you asked in the most professional way, lol.. "Computing Quirks" :-p

I've tried running some old ags agmes with dosbox, gives me an error about graphics mode not being supported or something, I'd like to be able to get to play them.

There are almost no DOS ags games released anymore though, I think CJ even considered leaving out the dos game ability of ags a few versions ago.

I hope DOS support stays in - I *still* can't get Win executables to compile properly, so I can only test games-in-progress using the DOS option...

Well I myself is a DOS user, so I'll only guarantee my games (if any) to work properly under pure DOS, I won't care much about Window$, whether your computer explodesor the game eats your girlfriend.
