I've known this bug for quite a while, and it isn't fixed in v2.55 RC1 either.
When you click on the test game button, the editor saves your game and then starts your game. But the first time the game is not responding, so that you have to close it and click the "test game" button again.

Spyros

It's never happened to me.
Test game works perfectly in XP

Vel

I have reinstalled WinXP twice, but the bug remains.

never happened here either and my PC is the master at crash and burn, its only ever crashed with the editor if i've got something set wrong, could always try it in compatabilty mode.. are your video drivers up to date? they cause a lot of problems on XP

woodz

if you look in control panel/Administrative Tools/event viewer it sometimes sez why the computer hung, its help a lot to fix faults on mine

Pumaman

This is an odd one, I believe netmonkey reported it a while back as the same thing happens to him.

I'm not sure if there's anything I can do though really, since it doesn't happen to me, and all the editor does to run the game is to launch the EXE file, so I don't know what more I can do with it.

If those of you with this problem can find anything in common (eg. graphics card, or sound card or something) then that might be useful.

Vel

I dunno. Strangely, it happens only the first time you try to test the game.

BlackBaron

I have WinXP too and I've never had that problem.

I don't have it either. I use XP 2   ::)

I remember this one as well. Happens on the XP systems at school. And I don't think it just happens when testing it for the first time; it happens when saving the game and running it for the first time as well. What I do is open the task manager, end the game (which has a "stopped responding" description) and rerun it. After that, no more hangups.

I get the same problem with Foodbelly, within the editor, when I try to test my game. This is always a problem, and I have to run the game windowed... (or dir myself into the compiled dir.)

Strangly, the other games seems to run in full screen...

Maybe it has to do with some code?
Veteran, writer... with loads of unreleased games. Work in progress.

Mine does it as well... test game (the first time) it hangs... Gotta kill it with Task Manager... then test it again... and it works from then on... nothing huge.... but it is pretty annoying  ::)

16MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra is my video card (jeez... I really need to upgrade)
