The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

The Clockwork Labyrinth is a first person point-and-click puzzle adventure. A mysterious message on social media lures you into a weird underground complex to rescue a damsel in distress. You must pit your wits against the labyrinth and find your way to the enigma at its heart?

When you enter the Clockwork Labyrinth (you'll need a ticket!) you will encounter four challenging regions:

The Metal Maze, in which every turn takes you to another puzzle;

The Caves of Confusion, where an ancient mechanism thwarts your progress;

The Cryptic Crypt, a catacomb of Gothic mysteries;

The Museum of Curiosities, a celebration of eccentricity and the bizarre! I have written a User Gide for anyone struggling with some of the puzzles. It can be downloaded from my website: www.elenheart.me.uk/page19.html

Won, Best Puzzles 2018

Like all of Elen's games, as Cassiebsg said "Take notes! Lots of notes!" Puzzles are from diabolical to sublime, and mostly interactive. Graphics are superb - it is a pretty game. Sound and music were great and appropriate. Two bugs stopped my gameplay, but I'm assured they are being ironed out. I have great respect for Elentgirl, and am glad to see her back developing. A great game! I'm going to replay adventure island now.

Loved testing this game!
Don't expect to take 10 minutes or an hour, enjoy the game for the puzzles and your ability to solve them. If you enjoy games that challenge your gray matter and 1st adventure (like Myst), then this is the game for you.! :)
Also take notes! Lots of notes! Even if at first you may not consider it important. It might just be to solve a puzzle later on... and keep your eyes wide open!

Get pen and paper ready, you'll need them!

This is a very enjoyable game, with some amazing puzzles, even though they are a bit unbalanced, some are laughably easy, some really require a piece of paper to figure out.

The focus is definetely on the puzzles, not on the story, so if you expect a lot of plot, this is the wrong game for you. But if you want to puzzle your way through a labyrinth of mysteries and atmosphere, you found the right game with a couple of hours of gameplay.

All in all, this is absoluteley recommended from me!
