The AGS Panel is a team of AGS forum veterans who play all of the games here, and give them ratings from one to five cups. The rating system is as follows:
1 Cup Not serious entertainment
2 Cups A reasonable game, worth a try
3 Cups A good game, worth playing
4 Cups A great game, well worth your time
5 Cups An outstanding, must-play game!
Feel free to disagree with the panel's rating, and please don't be offended if you think your game has been underrated!

(Why has my game been rated 1 cup?)

Close window
If your game has been rated 1 cup, please don't be offended! It's common for your first game release to get a 1-cup rating, due to the game having a lack of polish and flair -- which is understandable, because you're just getting started!

Please understand that the main purpose of the ratings is to help potential game players find high quality, bug-free games to play. You've probably learnt a lot about AGS as a result of making your first game -- so why not use that knowledge to start afresh, and do even better with your next game!

About this game

The people of Issegeac believe that their good fortune depends on the spellbook that has been in their village for over nine centuries. When the keeper of the text, your grandfather, is killed and the Grimoire stolen, the villagers ask your help.
Now it is your task to find the Black Sect's hideout and return the spellbook to Issegeac.

Cool retro visuals, I'm not too used to first-person adventure games and struggled to really get into this one due to the lack of hotspots in most locations. A game you should enjoy if you have a bit of perseverance though.

I don't remember the original, but I did rather enjoy this game. It felt like a bit of a classic loom-style game.

Persistence will triumph with this one ;)

Great game, I loved the graphics and the music. For an older game, the art stands the test of time, though from looking at some random screenshots online it seems the authors of this remake have touched up the graphics.

The remake has rendered the game much easier. I completed it in 2-3 hours, with only a small glimpse at a walkthrough. Based on online reviews I don't think I would have played this particular game in its original version, as it all sounds very frustrating.

Thanks again for dumbing it down for me and others who can now enjoy it!

I thought this was a good game with an interesting ending. I hope that you will do more games in the future.
